IN, BY AND THROUGH CHRIST

There are several things that God has given us because of Jesus' death and resurrection. Here are a few of them.

We are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. - Romans 3:24

We have eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 5:21

We who are many form one body in Christ. - Romans 12:5

We will all be made alive in Christ. - 1 Corinthians 15:22

We are always lead in triumphal procession in Christ. - 2 Corinthians 2:14

We have freedom (liberty) in Christ. - Galatians 2:4

We are sons of God in Christ Jesus. - Galatians 3:26

We are sons and heirs of God through Christ. - Galatians 4:7 (KJV)

We are raised with Christ and are blessed in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. - Ephesians 1:3

We are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. - Ephesians 2:6

We are created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Ephesians 2:10

We have been brought near through the blood of Christ. - Ephesians 2:13

We can be filled with the fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ. - Philippians 1:11

The peace of God will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:7

We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. - Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

God will meet all of our needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19

Just a small sample of what God has done for us; in, by and through Jesus.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF GENTLEMEN!

My highlight from this last week at Battalion was when both Gerald and Max finished the Memory Work! Special Congrats to Gerald as it was his first time completing the Memory Work! Gerald will now receive his Btln Medallion! Owen stayed late to listen to Gerald recite the Memory Work. When Gerald was finished Owen welcomed him to the world of Gentlemen. Thanks Owen, that was very classy!
There are now three that are coming to Creation; Zach, Gerald and Max soon to be joined by Sammy J.!

BTLN UPDATE

This week we started the night with Pop n Dogs. Plenty of Menno on the BBQ! It was a little cool out but good times all around. I figure we ate around 44 Menno/dogs!(Forty Four!) I had planned to take some pictures but I didn't remember until we were done, next time.
Jeremy led the Bible study and he talked about God's love and how God is willing to do anything for us, including dying for us.

Romans 5:8-10 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

God saved us while we were still sinners and his enemies! Now that is love!

1 John 4:9 - This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

Next up it was time to play S*A*M! We played three rounds of S*A*M, my team winning all three! Not sure why, but I think my aim is better in the dark. Anyways S*A*M was just as much fun the second time as it was the first time. It takes a little time to set up, but it is worth it. It is visually awesome!
We finished the night with Bulldog.(What else would we finish with?) We left the glow sticks on our arms and turned out the lights.(Although I opened the door.)(Chris was hoping we would play in total darkness, a little too dangerous even for Battalion!) The final three were Kaleb, Stevie and Sam S., with Sam coming up with the big win! Congrats Sam!

Next week is The fifth Btln Masters! It is the final Btln Major of the year! We will be leaving the church shortly after 7:00 p.m. next week for Cascade par three. Bring ten dollars if you can help out, if not come anyway we will pay for you!

BTLN "WHO AM I?" PART 5

Bent nailed it, the answer to the "Who am I?" was King David. Nice work Bent! Other possible clues were.

CLUE #7 - God gave me my best friends throne.

CLUE #8 - I comforted the king by playing my harp.

Read Psalm 22 to check out some of David's prophecies. It fits in with the Easter season.

I am planning on being set up around 6:30 p.m., see ya there!

Remember bring a friend, there will be enough dogs to go around!

BTLN UPDATE

I know that I say it too often but tonight's Murderball was some of the best Murderball that I have been a part of! The last game that we played lasted at least fifteen minutes! My team must have been down to our last guy at least half a dozen times. I don't ever remember being that tired after Murderball.(Insert old man jokes here.) In the end Jeremy and Blake's team won the marathon game, it was amazing! In a game like that there are so many big catches and big throws it is hard to find a turning point!
In Bible study we looked at the armor of God.(Ephesians 6:13-18) It is a topic we have studied before but I felt like we needed to look at it again. God does not send us into the battle of life without giving us what we need to defend ourselves!

Ephesians 6:10,11 - Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

We need to remember to be strong in the Lord and not to depend on our own strength. It is the only way that we will be able to withstand the devil's attacks. It is interesting that the passage tells us to put on the full armor of God.(It should be obvious.) Putting on part of the armor makes us vulnerable! What good would it be to have the helmet of salvation if we leave ourselves exposed and forget to put on the breastplate of righteousness? We need God's full protection! We looked at the story of David and Goliath(1 Samuel 17:1-51)and how David depended on God's armor instead of depending on the armor that King Saul offered him. (What good was Goliath's armor?) One more passage.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Finally we ended the night the way we always do, with Bulldog! Ryan started in the middle and after a couple of rounds he had taken down Zach G.! Zach now had to make sure that Sam S. did not win and take a bigger lead in the Winston Standings. Somewhere along the way Zach ended up with a bloody nose,(Not sure if it was Sam.)so he was forced to leave the gym to stop the bleeding. One round later Zach is back in the gym with paper towel up his nose taking Sam to the ground! It was amazing! Definitely one of the B-Dog highlights of the year! The rest of the guys battled hard and in the end it was down to Sammy J. and suSpence! Sammy finished the night with a big win, taking his second Helmet of the year! Congrats Sam!

NEXT WEEK! Pop n Dogs at the church! We will have the BBQ going before Battalion, come early and bring your appetite! (Pop n Dogs and Menno on the menu!)(We will still be playing games and having Bible study.)

BTLN IS BACK!

Yes we are back at the gym, but will we play this week? Will it be Murderball, Stickball, S*A*M, Mike, Mike 23 or Handball? So many good games to choose from! One thing you know for sure is that we will be playing some B-Dog!

Battalion 3739, more fun than you can handle on your own, so share it with a friend!

P-DUB

Last week when I was preparing for the P-Dub I was looking for this passage, I wasn't sure of the exact wording but I knew that there was a passage like this.(I spent at least an hour with my concordance last week.)Tonight I found it right away. Anyways this passage and the P-Dub from last week should have close to the same theme.
Many times life gets busy and we tend to lose our focus. Truth is we allow ourselves to get too busy and then we forget what is really important.

Colossians 3:1,2 - Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

What will happen if we set our hearts and minds on things above?

2 Timothy 2:20,21 - In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

We will be useful instruments in the Masters hand! What could be more important than this?

HOCKEY NIGHT FIVE

According to Joe 2006 was the first year making 2010 the fifth straight year that we have had "Hockey Night at Battalion". Numbers were down at hockey but that doesn't mean we didn't have a good time.(Plenty of ice time for everyone.)The Hieberts and Robbie play hockey so the rest of us took them on. If you have enough guys on one team you can plug up the ice so that you can slow down the skating. Jeremy played net for my team while Cody played net for the Hieberts. In the end the score was Hieberts 8 the rest of us 7. After Hockey we put the flag football belts on and we played Bulldog between the blue lines. Because of their speed the Hieberts were the last two and in the end Levi beat out his younger brother Seth. First ever Helmet win for Levi! Congrats Levi! Afterwards we adjourned to the locker room for some Pepsi's, another good night at Battalion!

Thanks to DJ Zej for coming out and playing some tunes!

Next week Battalion is back at the gym. Remember Battalion is like Heaven, there is always room for one more! So bring a friend!

P-DUB

I was out hitting some softballs this afternoon, it is amazing what green grass and a blue sky do for my psyche.(When everything is going right for us it is easy to be in a good space.) But not nearly what God can do for me! It is funny that when I feel a little down and I take a look at my life I usually realize that I have not spent enough time meditating on God and his word. If you read Gods word you can not help but be lifted up!

Psalm 63:1-4 - O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift my hands. (Written by King David.)

We need to seek God in the same way that David did! If we will seek God and meditate on his word he will be there ready to help us! Remember God is waiting to help us and he is never far away!

1 John 4:15 - If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.

God lives within us! You can't get closer than that! Just knowing(and remembering)this should lift us up!

FEBRUARY, A MONTH IN REVIEW

What a month! It started with the third Btln Major of the season and ended with the fourth! Sam S. won the Heavyweight division and suSpence the lightweight division at Winterslam! Next up was the Super Bowl party and the Big Papa pickles. Later in the month we had Sting Pong and Mike Night! There were visits from Btln Alumni Al Martens and Ryley Heppner! On the blog we had a "Meet the Btln Nation" with Jordon Walsh and a "Who am I" with Tim Feenstra. Zach finished the Memory Work in February.(Nice work Zach!) The Helmet winners in February were Sam S., Kaleb and Zach. The 15Th Annual Btln Ping Pong Tourney completed what was one of the busiest months of the year! (Although we didn't have our winner until March.) It seems like every month is better than the one before it!
