BTLN UPDATE

I know that I say it too often but tonight's Murderball was some of the best Murderball that I have been a part of! The last game that we played lasted at least fifteen minutes! My team must have been down to our last guy at least half a dozen times. I don't ever remember being that tired after Murderball.(Insert old man jokes here.) In the end Jeremy and Blake's team won the marathon game, it was amazing! In a game like that there are so many big catches and big throws it is hard to find a turning point!
In Bible study we looked at the armor of God.(Ephesians 6:13-18) It is a topic we have studied before but I felt like we needed to look at it again. God does not send us into the battle of life without giving us what we need to defend ourselves!

Ephesians 6:10,11 - Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

We need to remember to be strong in the Lord and not to depend on our own strength. It is the only way that we will be able to withstand the devil's attacks. It is interesting that the passage tells us to put on the full armor of God.(It should be obvious.) Putting on part of the armor makes us vulnerable! What good would it be to have the helmet of salvation if we leave ourselves exposed and forget to put on the breastplate of righteousness? We need God's full protection! We looked at the story of David and Goliath(1 Samuel 17:1-51)and how David depended on God's armor instead of depending on the armor that King Saul offered him. (What good was Goliath's armor?) One more passage.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Finally we ended the night the way we always do, with Bulldog! Ryan started in the middle and after a couple of rounds he had taken down Zach G.! Zach now had to make sure that Sam S. did not win and take a bigger lead in the Winston Standings. Somewhere along the way Zach ended up with a bloody nose,(Not sure if it was Sam.)so he was forced to leave the gym to stop the bleeding. One round later Zach is back in the gym with paper towel up his nose taking Sam to the ground! It was amazing! Definitely one of the B-Dog highlights of the year! The rest of the guys battled hard and in the end it was down to Sammy J. and suSpence! Sammy finished the night with a big win, taking his second Helmet of the year! Congrats Sam!

NEXT WEEK! Pop n Dogs at the church! We will have the BBQ going before Battalion, come early and bring your appetite! (Pop n Dogs and Menno on the menu!)(We will still be playing games and having Bible study.)
