Happy Birthday and may God bless you again this year!

BTLN UPDATE - 22ND ANNUAL BTLN PING PONG TOURNEY

Congrats Jakob! Jakob now has five straight Btln Ping Pong titles! Jakob is the first five time Champion in any of the five Btln Majors! It is not like Jakob has not had excellent competition. Jakob has been up against Austin, Lukas twice, Isaac and this year it was Reese that joined Jakob in the Final. Reese had a 2-1 game lead in the Final before Jakob won the last two games to win the series 3-2! The Semifinal matches were just as good as the Final. It was nerve wracking to watch, I can't imagine how stressful it must have been to actually be playing! Jakob defeated Tyson 2-1 and Reese beat Isaac 2-1! The best part is, three out of the final four will be back next year!

Btln Ping Pong Final Four
Jakob Boschmann
Reese Hogarth
Isaac Holitzki
Tyson Tiller

We had 30 guys and 36 Ping Pong matches in the 22nd Btln Ping Pong Tourney! 30 guys at Ping Pong wasn't a record, but it was close! There were so many good moments, it is hard to remember them all. Caleb Hiebert facing off against Caleb Tomilin is something that I will never forget. The guys chanting "Lets go Caleb" was amazing! It was the second year that we have had the Final on the Wednesday and I would never go back! It is so good to have all the guys watching and cheering!

The guys devoured six Meat Monster pizzas in about ten minutes, they must have been hungry!

Thanks to all the guys that came out and competed in the 22nd Btln Ping Pong Tourney!

Thanks to Ben Jepsen and Jason Hayashi for refereeing the two tables!

BTLN PREVIEW - THE 22ND BTLN PING PONG TOURNEY

Last year Jakob tied Calvin Peters for the most Btln Ping Pong titles won with four! In last year's final, Jakob and Isaac were both very good. They pushed each other to the limit, which gave us some very entertaining Ping Pong! Can Jakob win his fifth Ping Pong Tourney in a row and set a new record? Will Isaac win this time out? Is there someone else that will surprise us? I can't wait to find out!

BTLN UPDATE - DOUBLE POINT NIGHT

Congrats Neighbour! This was Isaac's first Bulldog win ever! All of the biggest guys went down early, giving some of the other guys a chance to win Bulldog. It never gets old watching one of the guys win Bulldog for the first time!

This was the second year that we have had Double Point Night on a Wednesday, and I am not sure what took us so long to make the change. I have not checked, but I am pretty sure that eight guys quoting Scripture has got to be a new record! Double Point Night is quickly becoming one of my favourite nights of the year! I am so proud of everyone that said a passage! Good work guys!

Tyson Tiller - 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Jakob Boschmann - 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Luke Martens - Romans 8:28-39
Alex St. Onge - Ephesians 4:3-6
Dylan Warwaruk - 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Josh Martens - 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Cam Walt - 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

This week we played Murderball for only the second time since Christmas! I know what you are thinking, what is going on at Btln? We have been trying to change things a little, but we were long overdue for Murderball! Some of the older guys were trying to fix the teams, so my team ended up a little undermanned. (My team had the guys that were fixing the teams.) This meant that we would have to work harder to win. We were close a couple of times, but were never able to win, losing to Ben's team 3-0!

In Bible study our topic was "God's Word", it seemed appropriate for Double Point Night.

Psalm 119:89   Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

God's word is eternal

2 Timothy 3:16-17   All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

God's word is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

Hebrews 4:12   For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

God's word is living and active.

Psalm 12:6   And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.

God's word is flawless.

Psalm 119:130   The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

God's word gives light and understanding.

Psalm 119:9-11   How can a young man stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

God's word can keep us from sinning.

These are some of the reasons why it is so important to study and memorize God's word!

BTLN UPDATE - THE MILL

Congrats Luke! This was Luke's third Helmet of the Btln Season! Luke is now tied with Tyson and Jakob for first in the Winston Standings! It looks like this race is going to go right down to the wire!

This week we tried a new game that was a Btln 3739 tradition from the past! We brought back "The Mill"! We made two teams that took turns running through "The Mill" created by the opposing team. After two rounds the score was tied at 16, so we needed overtime to find a winner. Each team picked their three strongest runners to run through "The Mill". The first team was three for three, this meant that the second team needed to be perfect to send us to a second overtime. The first runner for the second team was knocked down giving the first team the win in our first ever "Mill Night"!

In Bible study our topic was "Who do you say I am?"

Matthew 16:13-17   When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

The people of Israel were not sure who Jesus was, but those closest to Jesus knew exactly who he was! Peter testified that Jesus was the Messiah, the son of the living God that the nation Israel had been waiting for! It was God the Father that revealed this truth to Peter.

Exodus 3:13-15   Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’
“This is my name forever,
the name you shall call me
    from generation to generation.

John 14:6-11   Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.

Jesus used the name that God the Father had used for himself in the Old Testament, letting his disciples know that he was in fact the same God. Philip wanted to see God the Father and did not understand what Jesus was trying to tell him. Jesus told Philip that anyone who had seen him (Jesus) had seen the Father!

Matthew 17:1-5   After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

God the Father's testimony about Jesus will have the final word here, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
