Joining with "Teenage Politics", "Satellite", and "Two Lefts Don't Make a Right but Three Do", Fm Static's "What Are You Waiting For" was one of my all time favorite CD's going through high school. Though its basically TFK 2.0 i wouldn't say they are the same at all. in fact i tend to enjoy FM Static's CDs more and wish they would tour more often (or at all). Both of their albums have been great and stay true to their style and sing along good times! their newest project "Dear Diary" just released yesterday and im looking forward to picking it up but from what i have read its another winner for the FM Static collection.
9. Skillet-sometime 2009
I was never really interested in Skillet and found a lot of their early stuff pretty terrible, but since collide they have blown me away! i saw they live last summer at Creation and was very excited to finally see them live and i was very satisfied with their violin heavy rock style. I cant wait to see them again this summer and if you haven't heard their last 2 albums then you are missing out, especially with comatose! they are scheduled to have an album out sometime this year and i can not wait to hear it! definitely a band worth checking out!
8. Emery-While broken hearts prevail (EP 2008) ...In Shallow Seas We Sail (2009)
Common to bands like Blindside and even P.O.D. Emery is one of the best at what they do. Some enjoy the constant screaming some bands do yet i enjoy the screaming mixed with good vocals and thats exactly what Emery brings! the greatest thing about it is their lyrics. i find these guys to be some of the greatest writers in teh music industry today, unfortunately you may never know due to the fact that they scream most of the words! none the less i have liked every album more then the one before it and every time i listen to "I'm Only a Man" i enjoy it more. Just a few months ago they put out an EP that was simply amazing and this year they will be releasing the other half (as you can tell from the 2 titles above) and i can only assume it will be just as amazing!
7. Blindside-very hopeful 2009 (im hopeful for a new album that is)
Blindisde makes my top 5 favorite all time bands alas its been forever since i have heard anything from them! Front man Christian Lindskog has one of my favorite voices in the industry today! much like emery they have great lyrics and great albums! to this day silence is my favorite album of theirs along with the great depression (which some people hated for whatever reason). one of my biggest dreams is bands like blindside and underoath to put out an acoustic album due to the fact that the song titled silence is one of my all time favorite songs ever. none the less check out the album silence if you want the best from these guys.
