BTLN UPDATE

What is the first sign of spring? It has nothing to do with groundhogs or flowers blooming, it has to be Battalion spring football!(Even though it snowed late Wednesday night)(It is awesome to put the cleats on and run around on the grass.) Mike Trainer is in town and came out and played some football with us, love it when the Alumni show up! The teams were evenly matched, first Jordon threw a touchdown to Yash(spelling?) and then I threw one to D-Pod to tie it up. Neither team was able to score again until overtime. We played a C.F.L. style overtime where both teams have four downs from the eighteen yard line. Jordon's team went first and Rick Brown caught a pass and ran it in for a touchdown! My team had our four downs, but we were unable to get it done. Football is fun even in defeat.
Next it was back to the church for Bible study.

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"-which is the first commandment with a promise-"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

In 2Timothy 3:1-4 and Romans 1:29-31 there is a long list of sins, and disobedience to parents is listed among them. At first glance it seems as if disobedience to parents does not belong, but obviously this is very important to God and it is something that he would like us to avoid.
If we honor our parents God promises that we will be able to enjoy long life and that things will go well for us. This does not mean that we will not face trouble in life, it means that we will be able to avoid trouble. God has given us parents to guide us through life. With their help we should be able to avoid the pitfalls of life.

Bulldog didn't last long this week.(We should keep track of how many rounds it takes to finish the game.) Drew took down all of the bigger guys first, and when it was over, it was less than fifteen rounds. Josh outlasted everyone and took the Helmet! First Helmet for Josh, congrats!
