BTLN 08 GRADS
Congratulations to our Btln grads! It has been fun watching you guys grow up! The hard part about Last Night is knowing that the Grads will be moving on, starting a new chapter of their lives. Hopefully we have helped prepare you for life. Congratulations to Nathan Ball, Devin Chursinoff and Cam Thompson!
2Timothy 2:1-3 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

WINSTON 07/08
After thirty weeks of battling for Winston we still don't know who the Champion is. With one week to go there are only a handfull of guys left that can take Winston. Drew Brown has the the lead with four wins, followed by Devin Chursinoff, Nathan Ball and Cam Thompson, all with three wins each. Can Drew hang on for the win, or will one of these other guys come up with a big win to steal it away from him? All of this will be decided Wednesday night! I can't wait it is going to be a great night. The nine foot party-sub has been ordered! For all those guys in grade eleven and twelve,(and Alumni)don't forget that we are going to Boston Pizza afterwards!(I am preordering the pizza tomorrow so if you have a favourite let me know in the comments)

P.O.D.
Time again for Passage Of Dah week. I have been thinking of verses that I could share this week, and I kept thinking of God's creation, then I went for a hike with Stockade and the view from rattlesnake mountain made me think of this verse.
Psalm 121:1-8 I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber or sleep. The Lord watches over you-the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from harm- he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Quite often in life we forget where our help comes from. If we would just remember that our help comes from our Maker we would be so much better off. What better place to get help than from our Maker? Who knows us better than God, the one who created us? If you bought something and had a problem with it you would likely want to bring it back to the one that designed and built that product. And God didn't just create us he created everything, so he understands everything! I have heard it said that the Bible is our manual for life, this is very true! The manual that came with my new paintball gun had a warning on it. The warning in the manual says that I should carefully read all of the directions before I use the gun. Of course like every other guy I tried using the gun before I had read the instructions, and you geussed it I had a couple problems. Is this any different than any of us when it comes to life? We try going through life without reading the Bible.(our directions for life) The manual that came with my gun really wasn't very good, but the manual that we have for life is perfect and will never let us down! If we read the manual we will have all the help that we need!

P-DUB
It's time again for Passage of the Week. I saw Joe today and it got me thinking about friends, we haven't seen each other for a couple months but when we do it seems like he never left. This made me think of a verse.
Proverbs 18:24b there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
To think that I have a friend that will stick closer than Jeremy, now that is amazing! One of the goals of Battalion is to create a brotherhood, guys with a common goal(following Jesus)that can be friends for life. These guys are good friends but Jesus is a far better friend than this.
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
That is amazing to think that someone would lay down his life for his friends! But Jesus love is greater than this!
Romans 5:6-10 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
Jesus died for us while we were ungodly, sinners and his enemies! Now that is amazing!
I found one more verse that I wanted to share.
1Peter 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the King.(Btln verse?)

BTLN UPDATE
Time again for another Battalion update. It was the last football of the year and again the weather did not disappoint. I don't ever remember having rain on Battalion football, I geuss God saves it all for The May Long. Once again we had Alumni making the trip from Kelowna to play some football, this time Owen and Dan made the trek! Thanks to Owen and Dan for coming out, it is very encouraging. Once again the game was a little lopsided but it doesn't matter, it was fun just being outside. We went back to the church after football and had our last Bible study of the year. We went over our theme for the year. This year we were looking at the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. Hebrews 12:1,2 talks about throwing off the sin that entangles us and that we should fix our eyes on Jesus, if we do these things then I believe when we get to heaven God is going to finish the list of heroes and we can be on that list.(If you are not sure of what do for devotions why don't you read Hebrews 11) The night is never complete until we play some B-DOG and Cam outlasted everyone and took home his third win of the year! Cam is back in the race for Winston, he is only one win behind Drew. Next week we are meeting at the church at 7:00 P.M. and will be going out to Cascade par three for the Btln Masters!

It's time again for the Passage of the Week and I figured that we shouldn't do to many of these without doing our verse.
2 Timothy 2:1-3 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
We have had this verse as our motto since the 00/01 season. It hasn't always appeared on our merch, but has always been our motto. Paul tells us to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus and the things that he(Paul)has said. How can we be strong in this grace or the things that Paul has said if we don't read our Bibles to find out what it is that Paul has said? He wants us to entrust this treasure to reliable men who will be qualified to teach others, hopefully this is what we are doing at Battalion. This is why it is so exciting to see so many of our Btln Alumni going to Bible School, they are learning about this grace and will be qualified to teach others. All the Alumni that come back and help at Battalion are an encouragemeant because it proves that what God is doing here(and in Kelowna) is working. Finally Paul tells us to endure hardship, living for God is not going to be easy, we will have struggles, but if we study God's grace and apply it to our lives we will be able to endure any hardship that comes our way.(With God's help!)
Meet the Nation with Dan T. coming soon!

BTLN UPDATE
First of all congratulations to Andrew Novokshonoff on his first helmet win! We started the night with a suprise visit from Dan Trithardt. Dan came from Kelowna to play some football, now thats dedication! The teams where a little lopsided, the team I was playing on seemed to have most of the bigger guys(we should probably make sure that Ryley, Devin and Jason are not on the same team.)(I remember the days when Ryley didn't play, he would just do handstands and goof around with Mike Hughes. Now Ryley is a force out there.) Needless to say we beat them up pretty bad(no overtime tonight). Next we went to the church and had the Bible study. We looked at Davids life and how he was patient, he waited for a long time to be King. David had a couple of different chances to kill Saul and take his throne but he waited for God. God's timing is always perfect! After Bible study we played B-dog and then finished the night off at A&W. Dan ordered a Double Grandpa Burger, six patties! And for dessert a Mozza! Another good night at BTLN3739! Three more weeks, football next week, The Masters(night golf)the week after and Last night on April 30. Meet the Nation with Dan T. coming soon!

THE P.O.W.
Welcome to the P.O.W.(Passage or Passages Of the Week). Jeremy and I were talking and he mentioned a passage that he had recently read and was excited about, so I thought that I would share it with you.
Exodus 33:11 The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.
That is an exciting verse, Moses was able to speak to God(The Creator of the universe and the Saviour of the world) just like you would speak to your friends. Wouldn't it be sweet to be able to talk to God like that? That must have been encouraging for Moses to be able to speak to God in that way. Is it really any different for us?
Hebrews 4:16 Let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
So God wants us to approach him at anytime with confidence.
1Thessalonians 5:17 pray continually;
God wants us to always be thinking about him and talking to him, he wants us to approach him at anytime or anyplace. Of course we can't hear God out loud but his word is available to us at anytime. In some ways we have it better than Moses, he could only talk to God in the Holy of Holies(with a few exceptions). We can talk to God wherever we are. As the verse in Exodus says, we can speak to God as a man speaks to his friend.
