BTLN UPDATE - THE THREE B'S

 





Congrats to Caleb! This is Caleb's fourth helmet of the Battalion year! Caleb is currently first in the race for Winston with four Helmets and 1 Major! Congrats again to Caleb!


This year we had 40 boys and 8 leaders at the 3B's! The guys devoured 10 large Battalion Baconator pizzas, 5 cases of Mug rootBeer, over 100 Bonuts, and two huge pots of Beans!


The game at the 3B's is always Murderball, which is lots of fun to play with almost 50 guys! Lance's team won the first game, with Matthias's team winning the second game. Lance's team won the third game, with Matthias's team tying the score again with another win. Matthias's team got a quick win for the final game, winning the series with a score of 3-2. Congrats to Matthias's team!


Congrats to Justin on receiving a dairy queen gift card for bringing five friends to Battalion! Thanks for bringing so many guys to Battalion!


We read the Christmas story from the book of Luke. It is very important for us to remember what Christmas is all about. Christmas is about God sending Jesus to earth to be born as a baby. That baby would grow up and live a perfect life, and die on the cross for our sins. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus our Lord and Saviour. Merry Christmas!

BTLN UPDATE - SHIRT NIGHT

 




Congrats to Hudson on his first helmet ever! Jonny and Greg were there at the end with Hudson, but they both got taken out. Hudson was the only one able to make it to the far wall, giving him the victory! Congrats again to Hudson!


This week we played Handball! This game is always super fun to play. It is probably everyone's favourite game right now! Near the end of the game, we went to first to 15. The score at that point was 12-10 for Brennan's team. Aiden's team was able to score two goals, but Brennan's team never lost their lead. The final score was 15-12 for Brennan's team, beating Aiden's team. Congrats to Brennan's team on the win!


We finished off the night with the new Battalion shirts! I really love the BTLN design on this year's shirts! All the boys were super hyped when the shirts were revealed! It was awesome to hear them cheer! They all were planning on wearing the new shirts to school the next day. It's really cool seeing all the boys leave with their brand new Battalion shirts! Thank you Lance!


This week for the Bible study, we talked about being wise about what is good, and innocent of evil.

Here are some passages we read on the topic:


Romans 16:19  -  Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent of what is evil.

1 Corinthians 14:20  -  Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.

Philippians 4:8  -  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.


God wants us to understand all things that are good. He wants us to be innocent of all evil. He doesn't want us to understand evil, so that we don't have more temptations. It is better when we focus on all the good things. We should think about God and his love for us. His love for us is so great that we can't even comprehend how much he loves us. Remember to focus on God and all the good things he does for us!

BTLN UPDATE - ROYAL RUMBLE 17

 





Congrats Caleb! Caleb Martens is the 2023 Battalion Royal Rumble Champion! We had 37 guys compete in the seventeenth Royal Rumble! It was a great turnout!


We always start the Royal Rumble with the Lightweight Division. Nelson, Owen, and Colton were the final three for the lightweight division. Nelson and Colton teamed up on Owen and got him out first. We then went ropes down for the final two of the Lightweight Division, and Nelson was able to push Colton out! Nelson won the Lightweight Division, earning himself a spot in the Heavyweight Division!

Congrats to Nelson!


The Heavyweight Division was awesome! The final four were Jonathan, Paxton, Brennan, and Caleb. The first one out was Paxton, with Jonny being the one to get him out. Brennan and Caleb then teamed up on Jonny and got him out. Caleb and Brennan were the final two! It was now time for the "Final Two-Ropes Down" tradition. All the boys sat on the ropes, making it easier to get shoved out of the ring. It is awesome to see all the boys watching and cheering on the final two! The final two battle didn't last long, with Caleb shoving Brennan out. Both boys fell out with Caleb on top, giving Caleb the victory! Congrats to Caleb on becoming the Royal Rumble Heavyweight Champion!

Congrats to both Caleb and Brennan, it was an awesome finish!

BTLN UPDATE





Congrats to Donte on his first helmet win ever! Both Donte and Brennan went down during the final round, but Donte made further progress, giving Donte the win! Congrats again to Donte!


This week we played Murderball! It is always a good game to play because there is lots of moving, and it gets people into the game. Luke's team won all 5 of the games, beating Lance's team 5-0. We even traded players to make the teams more even, but Luke's team would not lose tonight! Congrats to Luke's team!


This week the Bible study topic was the Power of God.

Here are some passages we read on the topic:


Romans 1:16  -  For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

1 Corinthians 1:18  -  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Romans 1:20  -  For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.


The gospel and the message of the cross are both the power of God. Both through the gospel and the message of the cross, God gives salvation to everyone who believes. God used his power to create all things, and uses his power save us all from sin. God's power is available to us when we are saved. We can use his power to help us stay away from sin. God helps us through all of our problems, and will comfort us when we are struggling. Praise God!

BTLN UPDATE

 



Congrats to Brett on his first helmet ever! Brett has gotten second place in British Bulldog a few times this year and it felt like he was due for a win! Congrats again to Brett on finally getting his first helmet!


This last week we played stickball! It is always a super fun game to play. The teams were pretty even, keeping the scores pretty even throughout the game. Luke's team pulled ahead though, winning with a 4 point lead. Congrats to Luke's team!

This week the Bible study topic was about fear.

Psalm 23:4  -  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 27:1-2  -  The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 34:4  -  I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.


We shouldn't be afraid because God is always with us to help us through all of our problems. We can be going through the darkest times, and God is still right beside us, ready to help us through it all. God will keep us away from troubles, and will help us through any troubles we get ourselves into. We can have comfort knowing that we don't have to be afraid because God is always with us!

BTLN UPDATE - MIKE NIGHT





Congrats to Paxton on his first helmet of the year! Paxton and Brett both went down during the final round, but Paxton had further progress across the gym. This gave Paxton the win and the helmet! Congrats again to Paxton!


This week we played Mike! It was lots of fun, with all the boys super hyped during the game. Coady's team had the lead for the entire game, and were able to keep it til the end! They had quite a big lead! Congrats to Coady's team!

This week's Bible study topic was Freedom.

Here are some passages we read on the topic:


2 Corinthians 3:17  -  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

John 8:34-36  -  Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Romans 6:22  -  But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 


We can find freedom in Jesus. He gives us life and sets us free from sin. When we are set free from sin, God offers us eternal life in Heaven with him! Just because we are free, doesn't mean we should sin. We should live a life away from sin, focusing on God. We have gained access to God's throne of grace because of the freedom we have recieved. We should thank Jesus for the freedom he has given us!

BTLN UPDATE

 





Congrats to Aiden on his second helmet of the Battalion year! Aiden is now tied for first in the race for Winston with Jonny and Caleb at two helmets each. Congrats again to Aiden on the helmet win!


This week we played handball! It was a super exciting game this week! Once both Luke and Josh's teams were tied at 12, we went down to one ball. The teams were super even, and no one could score. With no one scoring, we took the defenders out of the key. Since no one had gotten a goal yet, we finally decided to end the game with a shootout! Each team picked three players to take a shot from the top of the key. Jonny, Brett, and Paxton all shot for Josh's team. Aiden, Caleb, and Kedir shot for Luke's team. All six of the guys missed, so we had each team pick one more guy to shoot. Aiden shot for Luke's team and missed. Brett bounced a shot passed Luke to score and take the win for Josh's team! Congrats to Josh's team on the win! It was the craziest game of handball I've ever played!


This week the Bible study topic was encouragement!

Romans 1:11-12  -  I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong-that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17  -  May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.


God wants us to encourage each other. When we are obedient to God, it can encourage other believers to do the same. When we encourage others, it can make a big difference in their lives. We should always build each other up and help others!

BTLN UPDATE - MIKE 23





Congrats to Jonny on his second helmet of the year! Jonny is currently tied for first in the race for Winston with Caleb at 2 helmets each. Brett and Jonny went out the same round, but Jonny made more progress across the gym, giving him the victory and the helmet! Congrats again to Jonny!


This week we played Mike 23! During the game there are 23 balls being thrown and kicked around the gym, making the game really exciting! In Mike 23 there are multiple mini games, with the scores rising and falling throughout the series of games. The team with the most points at the end wins! Luke and Matthias's teams tied with the high score, so we had to do a tie breaker. Luke and Matthias had a lightsaber battle, with Matthias taking the win! Congrats to Matthias's team!

This week's Bible study topic was "do not be anxious."

Philippians 4:6-7  -  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:7  -  Cast all anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Proverbs 12:25  -  Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.


We should not be anxious because it will just bring us down. We should pray and put our trust in God. God will help us through all of our problems. Kind words can cheer up people and help them when they are anxious. We should be encouraging to others and trust God to help us. God will always be there to help you.

BTLN UPDATE





Congrats to Caleb on his second helmet of the Battalion season! Caleb is the first guy to win two helmets this year. This means Caleb is currently sitting in first place for Winston. Congrats again to Caleb on his helmet win!


This week we played Murderball! It's always a super fun game to play! Lance's team won the first game. Mataeus's team won the next three games, taking a significant lead. Lance's team then made the craziest comeback ever, winning the last three games! Lance's team won with a final score of 4-3.


This week's Bible study was on what we have been given by and through Christ.

Here are some of the passages we read:


Romans 3:24  -  All are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Romans 6:23   -  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:17  -  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Galatians 3:26  -  So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.

Galatians 4:7  -  Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.


Jesus died on the cross and freed us of all sin, and made us new! When we accept Jesus as our saviour, we are made new and considered children of God, and made his heirs. We deserved death because of our sin, but God gave us a way to be saved and made new. God considers us to be his sons and daughters, and wants us in heaven with him! Praise God!

BTLN UPDATE - G*I*T*D BASKETBALL





Congrats Aiden! Last year's Winston champ, Aiden Burch, is back in the race with his first helmet win of the Battalion year! I'm excited to see how the Winston race will be this year! Congrats again to Aiden!


This week we played G*I*T*D Basketball! This game is always super fun to play because of the glow-in-the-dark balls and all the glowsticks. We played the game for a while, and then we decided to finish off the game with first team to three baskets. Kedir scored quickly for the blue team, with Sawyer quickly returning a basket for the orange team. Dante scored the next basket for the blue team, making the score 2-1 for blue. Matthias made the third and final basket for the blue team, claiming their victory! The final score was 3-1 for the blue team. Congrats to the blue team!


This week our Bible study topic was the Power of God.

BTLN UPDATE





Congrats to Caleb on his first helmet of the Battalion year! Brennan was there at the end, but only Caleb was able to make it to the wall! This gave Caleb the victory! Congrats again to Caleb!


This week we played stickball! It was super hype with all the boys chanting and heckling each other! Luke's team got every runner home in the first inning. The second inning was pretty even with the scoring, but Luke's team already had a significant lead, which gave them the victory! Congrats to Luke's team!

This week's Bible study topic was on compassion.

Here are some of the Bible passages we read:


Matthew 9:35-36  -  Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

John 3:16-17  -  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.


Jesus teaches us to have compassion on others. He helped people that he saw had troubles. Jesus has love for all of us. He lived the perfect life on earth, and died on the cross for our sins. We must learn to have love and help others, just as Jesus loves and helps us.

BTLN UPDATE

 



Congrats to Jonny on his first helmet of the year! Andrew was also at the end with Jonny, but only Jonny was able to make it to the wall! This gave Jonny the win and the helmet! Congrats again to Jonny!


This week we played handball! Handball seems to be the group's favourite game right now! It was super awesome to see the excitement when we pulled the nets out! Brennan and Aiden's team had an early lead with a score of 7-2. Lance's team made a quick comeback, tying the score at 8-8. After the score was tied, we went to only one ball. It was first one to 11 wins. Brennan and Aiden's team scored three in a row, with Nelson scoring once, and Caleb scoring twice! This made the score 11-8 for Brennan and Aiden's team, giving them the win! It was a super awesome game of handball!


This week's Bible study was on making the most of every opportunity.

Here are some passages we read on the subject:


Ephesians 5:15-16  -  Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

1 Corinthians 9:16  -  For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!

1 Peter 3:15-16  -  But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.


Since Jesus loves us so much, we should be compelled to share the love of God with others. We should make the most of every opportunity, and take every chance we can get to share the gospel of Jesus with others. Jesus died for our sins because he loves us so much. How can we not share the message of Jesus with others? Be encouraged to spread the good news of Jesus to those around you!

BTLN UPDATE - POOL PARTY







Congrats to Brennan Zorn on winning the 2023 Btln Belly Flop Competition! Jonny, Greg, Paxton, Brett, and Justin were all in the final with Brennan. The best belly flop in the final round belonged to Brennan, giving him the win! Congrats again to Brennan!

This last Wednesday was the Battalion pool party, with 36 guys showing up! It was so awesome to see all the boys at Battalion. After free time in the pool, we had our Belly Flop Competition!

There were Hot dogs on the BBQ, as well as ice cream cake from DQ, chips and pop in the basement after we were done swimming.

BTLN UPDATE - FIRST NIGHT






Congrats Andrew! Andrew has the first helmet of the new Battalion season! It was awesome having all the boys back at Battalion again! Brett was at the end with Andrew, making it a battle between the brothers, but only Andrew was able to make it to the wall. This made Andrew the winner of British Bulldog and the Helmet! Congrats again to Andrew!


We started the Btln year with Murderball! Lance's team easily won the first two games of Murderball, with Greg making the winning shot in the second game. Luke's team beat Lance's team really quickly in the third game, and also won the fourth. Luke's team won the fifth and final game, beating Lance's team 3-2.


During this week's Bible study, we read from Psalm 139:1-12 and Jeremiah 23:23-24. 


Psalm 139:1-4  -  You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.

Jeremiah 23:23-24  -  "Am I only a God nearby," declares the Lord, "and not a God far away? Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?" declares the Lord. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the Lord.


We learned about how God knows everything about us, and is always there for us. God will always be there to comfort us, and to pick us up when we fall. David says that God's knowledge is wonderful. God has seen all the corners of our soul and he completely understands us. We can have comfort knowing God has a plan for us, and will be there through it all.

Congratulations to Aiden! Aiden Burch is the 2023 Btln 3739 Winston Champion! Aiden had 5 helmets and 2 Majors this year! He won Wrestling and Olympics! Brennan got second place with 5 helmets and 1 Major, and Kedir got third place with 3 helmets and 1 Major! Congratulations to everyone who won a helmet this Battalion year!

BTLN UPDATE - LAST NIGHT OF 2023








We had an amazing Last Night of Battalion! 46 guys showed up for the "Last Night" of 2023! We started the night with the Battalion favourite, Murderball! At "Last Night" in 2019 we played four games, but this year we played five games! This year Brennan's team won the first three games! Lance's team finally had a victory, winning the fourth game. Brennan's team had one more victory, winning the fifth and final game. The series ended with Brennan's team beating Lance's team with a score of 4-1.


After Murderball we did the Btln 3739 Grad ceremony! We had 3 Battalion Grads this year! Jaxon, Derek, and Kyle were each given a piece of paper with the English translation of the Hebrew saying that is on the back of our shirts! Keeping with Btln tradition, the Grads ate the piece of paper after reading the translation. The Grads are only allowed to tell the Hebrew saying to one person, and that person is the girl they marry! Next the grads got to pick out a Medallion, and then received their Battalion 3739 dog tags. Congrats to the 2023 Battalion grads!


Next Luke and Mataeus finally showed up with the sub sandwich party platters from Subway! Subway wasn't able to make the 9 foot part sub this year, so we ordered 7 subway party platters! There was still just as much sub to eat, and the boys devoured the subs really fast!


While the boys were eating their subs, Mataeus and Matthias both recited a passage in front of the boys for the Memory Work! Mataeus recited 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, and Matthias recited Romans 8:28-39. Both Mataeus and Matthias recieved double points for reciting their passages in front of the boys. Good work guys! 


Once Mataeus recited his passage, he completed the Memory Work! Congrats to Mataeus Weilmeier! This is Mataeus's first time ever completing the Btln 3739 Memory Work! Once the night was over, Mataeus received his Btln Medallion! Welcome to the world of Gentleman, Mataeus!


Congrats to Coady Walt on receiving his Btln Medallion tonight as well! Coady has served as a leader for many years now, and finally got to pick out his Btln Medallion! Coady received his Medallion at the end of the night after Mataeus. Welcome to the world of Gentleman, Coady!


After the passages were recited, we took the group photo. Then it was time for the final British Bulldog of the Btln year! Bulldog on "Last Night" is always super exciting with all the extra guys in the gym! Caleb Martens was our final Helmet winner of the 2022/23 Btln Season! Congrats to Caleb!


This year the Winston Champion was Aiden Burch! Congrats to Aiden! Brennan was super close to winning Winston, with tonight's British Bulldog deciding whether Aiden or Brennan was going to be the Winston champ! Brennan got taken down, making Aiden this year's Winston champion! Aiden had an awesome year with 5 Helmets and 2 Majors! Aiden won Wrestling and Olympics this year! Congrats again to Aiden!
