BTLN UPDATE
Congrats Luke! This is the third Helmet of the season for Luke! At the end of Bulldog we were down to Nate and Luke. Both Nate and Luke were taken down on the last round, but it was to close to call a winner! We reset and went one more round. (Who wouldn't one more round of Bulldog?) In the final round, Nate was tackled halfway across the gym, while Luke was able to make it through the maze of guys to the end of the gym!
This week we played Murderball! This used to be a common thing at Battalion, but lately we have been playing other games. (A kinder and gentler Btln?) In the first game my team dominated. Ben's team would not go down easily, they battled hard, but could not beat us in the first game. In the second game the tides turned! Ben's team beat us easily, setting up a third game. In the third, Ben's team continued what they started in the second game. Ben's team won the third game, taking the series 2-1!
In Bible study we looked at Jesus' death and resurrection.
(Matthew 27:32-54 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
Ben talked about the importance of Remembrance Day and how we should be thankful for the freedom and peace that we have, because of the sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers. Ben reminded us that we need to be even more thankful for the sacrifice that Jesus made, to give us peace with God and freedom from our sin!
Romans 6:18a You have been set free from sin.
Romans 8:1-2 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.
Colossians 1:19-20 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him(Jesus), and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
