BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Noah! First Helmet of the Btln Season for Noah! It was Ben and Noah at the end. Always on the same team, always working together. Kind of reminds me of the Sedin twins! (That's a good thing!) Funny to watch them battle it out! Noah outlasting Ben for the win!
Handball was on the agenda this week. Ben's team was taking it to my team early and often. Ben and Noah were playing goal and defense (See what I mean?) on Ben's team making it hard for us to score! Max was playing defense for my team and I was playing goal. John was scoring at will on us! The thing about Handball is we always end with next goal wins and this time it worked in my team's favor! Can't remember who had the winning goal for my team, but glad that my team finally picked up the win!

In Bible study this week we looked at what God thinks about false prophets and how we can identify them.

Deuteronomy 13:1-5  If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. That prophet or dreamer must be put to death for inciting rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. That prophet or dreamer tried to turn you from the way the Lord your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.

Deuteronomy 18:19-22  I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name. But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.” You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.

If a prophet contradicts God's Word, or if what he says does not come true, then we can be sure that he is a false prophet! We can see that God does not take the false prophets lightly! The Israelites were supposed to kill the false prophets! God does not punish the false prophets the same today as in the past but in eternity he will make things right!

Matthew 24:24  For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Even Christians can be deceived by these false prophets!

1 John 4:1-3  Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

What a prophet believes about Jesus will show us if they are false or if they are from God! They must believe that Jesus is God and that he lived, died and rose again for the sins of the world!

2 Timothy 2:15  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

The only way that we can know the truth is to study it!

We got Ryley's and Max's jerseys back! They had to go back to Montréal! They forgot the numbers on the sleeves.
