BTLN UPDATE

So many good things happening at Btln 3739 lately that it is hard to keep up with it all! Congrats to Max on his third Helmet of the 2013/14 Btln Season! Will anyone be able to stop Max this year? Last year GeRRald won Winston with three Helmets and Max is already at three!

Thanks to Bruce Jepsen for providing us with Btln towels! What a score and a surprise! We gave the towels out free to the guys that had registered. Bruce, we here at the blog salute you! (I think that Bruce has possibly started a new tradition.)

For only the second time in six weeks we played Murderball! We used to play every second week but times have changed and so has Btln. Anyways, we played four or five rounds and my team got beat every time! Still loved it though! Win or lose I could play Murderball every week!

This week in Bible study we looked at what "The man of God will do". We used Proverbs as our guide.

Proverbs 11:12  Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.

Proverbs 12:16  Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult.

Proverbs 13:5  The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked make themselves a stench and bring shame on themselves.

Proverbs 13:22  A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.

Proverbs 14:16  The wise fear the Lord and shun evil, but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure.

Proverbs 29:11  Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.

A Godly man will fear the Lord, love the Truth, provide for his family and will control his tongue and anger. Later we looked at the qualifications for an overseer (Godly man) in 1 Timothy.

1 Timothy 3:1-4  Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer (Godly man) desires a noble task. Now the overseer (Godly man) is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.

With God's help we can be a Godly man like the overseer in this passage in 1 Timothy and then we will be useful to God!

2 Timothy 2:20-21  In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
