BTLN UPDATE - GERRALD NICHOLSON, 25TH SERGEANT OF BTLN 3739

Congrats GeRRald! GeRRald is the 25th Sergeant of Battalion 3739! Btln 3739 is lucky to have GeRRald as our Sergeant! You have earned it GeRRald! GeRRald was the ninth Sergeant to receive his Sergeant Jersey in our "One Forward and One Back" Sergeant Jersey Program. (Joe Kraftchick will be getting his Jersey later this year! Can't wait!)
It was a busy week, we also had Charlie Langis making a special appearance! I just love it when the Alumni come out on a Wednesday Night! It was good to throw balls at Charlie again! We sure do miss you Charles! (Charlie just recently got engaged to Alina Demers! Congrats Charles!)
This week we played Murderball and it seemed like we couldn't get the teams right. First the J-Man's team was winning big and then it was Charlie and Ben's team that couldn't lose. Either way Murderball is still my favourite! I could play it every week!
This week we looked at the story of Noah and the flood in our series "The History of the World" or "His Story". (Genesis chapters 6,7,8 & 9:1-17)
Often times when we read the story of the flood we think of God's wrath and punishment of sin.

Genesis 6:9-13  This is the account of Noah.
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

It had been around 1600 years since the "fall of mankind" in the garden of Eden and instead of turning to God the people turned away from him.

Romans 1:28  And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper.

How great is God's mercy! God did not destroy these people right away! God gave those generations before the flood 1600 years to change their collective hearts but he also waited while the ark was being built for 120 years!

1 Peter 3:20b  God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.

As if this wasn't enough God gave the people one more sign! God paraded the animals into the ark for a week! And not one person joined Noah and his family on the ark!
God is also gracious to us, we only need to accept his forgiveness for our sins! How long will God continue to be patient? It has now been more than 2000 years since Jesus' death and resurrection! (That's 400 years more than the people before the flood had!)

2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

In Bulldog this week we had Spenny starting in the middle. With his size it made walking in the first round a bad idea! A lot of the bigger guys went down early and it looked like one of the smaller guys might win but Max was able to hold on for the win! Congrats Max! This is Maxwell's first Helmet of the year and the second of his Btln 3739 career!
Again, Congrats to GeRRald! We here at the blog salute you !

THE CAPTAIN
