BTLN UPDATE - U.F.O. ?

This week was very unconventional for Btln 3739. It is not very often that we do anything that could be considered a craft but this week we made hot air balloons! It is hard to know how well the balloons will turn out but they worked really well and the first balloon was amazing! It was so high that it was only a spec in the sky! (U.F.O. sighting in G.F.!)

At the beginning of the night we started with a game of fumble. Fumble is always good for a few laughs. It seems like it is always the same people that end up against the wall.(George, Luke and the Captain. I took two shots to the body!)
GeRRald has been pushing me to play a video collage of pictures from Creation 2011 and this week we finally got it together.(Sometimes the Captain needs to be pushed.)Thanks to Bent for putting that fabulous video together! If that video doesn't convince anyone to go to Creation then nothing will!(Did I mention that the O.C. Supertones will be at Creation 2012? So pumped!)

It was Jeremy's turn to lead the Bible study and this week he had us take a look at Caleb in our continuing series "Entrust to Reliable Men".(Numbers 13:1-33, Numbers 14:1-24, Joshua 14:6-15)
Caleb was one of twelve spies sent by Moses to spy on Canaan.(A spy, very cool! He must have been very courageous!) When the spies came back and gave their report to Moses and the rest of the nation, Caleb and Joshua were the only ones that trusted God and gave a good report. After seeing the plagues in Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea it should have been easy to trust God. This is human nature to want to do things ourselves. Caleb and Joshua knew that with God's help that anything is possible!

Numbers 13:30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."

Numbers 14:6-8 Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the Israelite assembly, "The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into the land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.

Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Bulldog was again the finale of the night. Because we didn't play any other rough games it seemed like we had extra aggression that we had not burned earlier in the night. Tristan took GeRRald down real hard and there were a few other big collisions. In the end though it came down to Cody and Zach. These guys battled alone for about four or five rounds and in the end Zach pulled out his fifth Helmet of the season! On the last round as Cody was going down he tackled Zach and was going to roll over Zach for the win but was unable to. If he would have pulled it off it would have been amazing! Zach is one Helmet win away from tying the record for most Helmets in one Btln season! Congrats Zach!

Next week is The Btln Winterslam!(Boxing)

Remember, Battalion is like Heaven, there is always room for one more! So bring a friend!
