P-DUB

I noticed this passage on a church sign in Kelowna yesterday. I am always surprised the way God will bring an idea for the P-dub or Bible study.

Psalm 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Where do we start with this passage? God tells us to be still and know that he is God, in other words God is telling us to stop what we are doing and focus on him. Life can busy and it can make us very distracted. Often we need to refocus our attention and look to God for direction.

Zechariah 2:13 - Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.

God's holiness and greatness should make us fall to our knees in worship.
Remember the Israelites reaction when God spoke to them at Sinai?

They told Moses...

Exodus 20:19 - "Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die."

There is no doubt that the people had no trouble being still. We serve the same God. Thankfully he deals differently with us. We can study his word and get to know him.

How great is our God!
