BTLN UPDATE - LAST NIGHT OF 2023

We had an amazing Last Night of Battalion! 46 guys showed up for the "Last Night" of 2023! We started the night with the Battalion favourite, Murderball! At "Last Night" in 2019 we played four games, but this year we played five games! This year Brennan's team won the first three games! Lance's team finally had a victory, winning the fourth game. Brennan's team had one more victory, winning the fifth and final game. The series ended with Brennan's team beating Lance's team with a score of 4-1.

After Murderball we did the Btln 3739 Grad ceremony! We had 3 Battalion Grads this year! Jaxon, Derek, and Kyle were each given a piece of paper with the English translation of the Hebrew saying that is on the back of our shirts! Keeping with Btln tradition, the Grads ate the piece of paper after reading the translation. The Grads are only allowed to tell the Hebrew saying to one person, and that person is the girl they marry! Next the grads got to pick out a Medallion, and then received their Battalion 3739 dog tags. Congrats to the 2023 Battalion grads!

Next Luke and Mataeus finally showed up with the sub sandwich party platters from Subway! Subway wasn't able to make the 9 foot part sub this year, so we ordered 7 subway party platters! There was still just as much sub to eat, and the boys devoured the subs really fast!

While the boys were eating their subs, Mataeus and Matthias both recited a passage in front of the boys for the Memory Work! Mataeus recited 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, and Matthias recited Romans 8:28-39. Both Mataeus and Matthias recieved double points for reciting their passages in front of the boys. Good work guys!

Once Mataeus recited his passage, he completed the Memory Work! Congrats to Mataeus Weilmeier! This is Mataeus's first time ever completing the Btln 3739 Memory Work! Once the night was over, Mataeus received his Btln Medallion! Welcome to the world of Gentleman, Mataeus!

Congrats to Coady Walt on receiving his Btln Medallion tonight as well! Coady has served as a leader for many years now, and finally got to pick out his Btln Medallion! Coady received his Medallion at the end of the night after Mataeus. Welcome to the world of Gentleman, Coady!

After the passages were recited, we took the group photo. Then it was time for the final British Bulldog of the Btln year! Bulldog on "Last Night" is always super exciting with all the extra guys in the gym! Caleb Martens was our final Helmet winner of the 2022/23 Btln Season! Congrats to Caleb!

This year the Winston Champion was Aiden Burch! Congrats to Aiden! Brennan was super close to winning Winston, with tonight's British Bulldog deciding whether Aiden or Brennan was going to be the Winston champ! Brennan got taken down, making Aiden this year's Winston champion! Aiden had an awesome year with 5 Helmets and 2 Majors! Aiden won Wrestling and Olympics this year! Congrats again to Aiden!

Congrats again to the 2023 Battalion 3739 Grads!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Brennan on his fifth helmet of the Battalion year! Brennan is now tied at five helmets with Aiden in the race for Winston! Aiden has the tie-breaker with two Majors, while Brennan only has one Major. I can't wait to see who wins Winston this year! Congrats to Brennan on the helmet win!

We played Murderball this week! It is always an awesome game to play with guys always moving, and no time to stand around. Josh's team won the first two games, taking an early lead. Lance's team came back with a quick win. Josh's team followed that, also having a quick win. Lance's team won the next two games, making it a tie with a score of 3-3. Josh's team won the final game, winning the series with a score of 4-3. Congrats to Josh's team!

We didn't have an official Double Point Night this year for the Memory work. We gave the option this year for the boys to pick any night to recite a passage for double points. Andrew recited Ephesians 1:3-14 in front of the boys before the Bible study. It is so good to have all the guys in the room listening as Andrew quoted scripture! Once Andrew recited that passage he officially completed the Memory Work! This is Andrew's second year in a row to complete the Memory work! Congrats to Andrew! Jonathan also completed the Memory Work this week, finishing it on Friday. This is Jonathan's fourth year in a row for completing the Memory Work! Congrats to Jonathan! We are very proud of Andrew and Jonathan for completing the Memory Work! Good work men!

This week our Bible study was about the Easter story!

Here are some of the passages we read:

1 Timothy 1:15  -  Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst.

Luke 19:10  -  For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

John 3:16-17  -  For God so love the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Jesus came to earth to save sinners by dying on the cross. Jesus payed the ultimate sacrifice because he loves us so much. Jesus was then raised to life in three days to prove he cannot be beaten! It is so amazing what Jesus has done for us. We just have to believe in Jesus, and ask him to be our saviour, and we will be saved. I hope you are encouraged by these words!

Thank you to all the boys and leaders who came to Battalion this week! We appreciate it! Remember, the 25th Battalion Ping Pong tournament is next Wednesday! There will be Pizza, so come hungry! Don't be late, and bring a friend!

BTLN UPDATE - "POP N DOGS" AND FOOTBALL

Congrats to Paxton! This was Paxton's second helmet of the Battalion season! British Bulldog is always super fun on the field! Congrats again to Paxton!

Tonight was our one and only Battalion Football night for the year. We had an awesome turnout with around 40 guys showing up! We ate lots of Mennonite sausage tonight, and drank an entire jug of Gatorade. Spring football is one of the oldest Btln traditions that dates back to when Btln was still at Perley! Brennan's team scored the first three touchdowns, with Jesse scoring twice, and Jonny scoring once. Lance's team then came back and scored the next two touchdowns, with Aiden catching a nice pass for the first one, and Kedir running it in for the second. Brett and Jesse scored the last two touchdowns for Brennan's team, securing the win. The final score for Battalion Football was 35-14 for Brennan's team. Congrats to Brennan's team!

Tonight's Bible study was about Creation.

Genesis 1:27  -  So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

God created us special in his own image. He gave us the breath of life and made us in charge of watching over the earth. God loves us more than anything else, and wants us to have a good relationship with him. Jesus died so that we can live forever with him! Jesus then came back to life, proving that he can't be beaten! Praise God!

Thanks to all the boys and leaders who came to Battalion Football tonight! It was awesome! Remember, we are back at the church next Wednesday for another awesome Battalion night! Be there, and bring your friends!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Jonny on his second helmet of the Battalion season! Jonny's first helmet this year was for the Belly Flop contest, so this is his first British Bulldog win of the year! Congrats again to Jonny on the win!

This week we played handball! It was really exciting this week, with all the boys really into the game! The teams were pretty even, with the score always being really close! Once the score was tied at 11, we went down to one ball and played first to 13. Lance's team played really well and scored the first goal, making it 12-11. Jason's team battled back really hard, but Caleb ended up scoring the winning goal for Lance's team. The final score was 13-11 for Lance's team. Congrats to Lance's team!

This week's Bible study topic was "What must I do to be saved".

Here are some passages we read on this subject:

Romans 3:23  -  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23  -  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8  -  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:13  -  For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

God sent his son, Jesus, to die for our sins. If we believe in Jesus and what he has done for us, and choose to follow him, we will be saved. God had forgiven every single person. We just have to ask God for his forgiveness and choose him. Remember, God loves you.

Thank you to all the boys and leaders who came out to Battalion this week! Remember, there is Battalion at the high school field this next Wednesday. We'll be playing touch football and eating Menno sausage! So, come hungry and bring a friend!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Brennan on his third helmet of the Battalion year! He battled hard to win British Bulldog, and to earn himself another helmet! It it well deserved! Congrats again to Brennan!

This week we played Murderball! It is always super fun to play Murderball. Lance's team won the first game quite easily, but Jason's team came back and won the second game. Next, Lance's team won the third game, with Jason's team winning the fourth. It came down to the fifth game as a tie-breaker with Jason's team having a quick win! Jason's team beat Lance's team overall with a score of 3-2. Congrats to Jason's team on the Murderball wins!

This week our Bible study topic was on the subject of prayer.

Here are some Bible passages we read on prayer:

Luke 5:16  -  But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Luke 11:1-4  -  One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say: "'Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

Ephesians 6:18  -  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  -  Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

We should pray to God often, with all kinds of prayers and requests. God is waiting, ready to listen to what we have to say to him. Not only is God ready to listen, but he also wants us to come to him in prayer. He loves us, and wants us to talk with him, and to have a good relationship with him. I encourage you all to pray!

Thank you to all the boys and leaders who came to Battalion this week! We had an awesome night! Don't forget, the 16th Battalion Winterslam (Boxing) is this next Wednesday! Tell all your friends! It's going to be amazing!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Andrew on his first helmet ever! Brett and Jonny were both close to winning British Bulldog as well, but it was Andrew's night to win! Congrats again to Andrew!

This week we played stickball! With 29 guys playing stickball, it was super exciting! The boys were chanting and cheering the entire time! All the scores were close, with Matthias and Jason's teams ending in a tie. We decided to have a lightsaber battle for the tie-breaker. Aiden represented Jason's team, and Caleb represented Matthias's team. They battled hard, with Aiden beating Caleb. Jason and Aiden's team won stickball with the tie-breaker!

Stickball Final Scores
Jason's team - 13 +1
Matthias's team - 13
Josh's team - 12
Coady's team - 11

When we finished stickball, we all went down for the Bible study. When we got down to the Battalion room, everybody was singing happy birthday to Kedir! After the Bible study we went up for British Bulldog! During the first round of British Bulldog, all the boys ran after Kedir and dogpiled him for his birthday! I love Battalion traditions!

This week we finished our Bible study series on John 14:6. This week's theme was Jesus being the life.

Here are some Bible passages we read on the life:

John 14:6  -  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 1:1-4  -  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

John 3:16  -  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Galatians 2:20  -  I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Jesus is the life and gives the only true life. If we accept Jesus as our saviour, he lives within us, and gives us new life. When we as believers die on earth, we get to live the perfect life with God in Heaven for eternity. We have so much to look forward to!

Thanks to all the boys and leaders who came and made this an awesome Battalion night! We are back at the church again this next Wednesday! Remember, Battalion is like Heaven, there's always room for one more! So bring a friend!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Paxton on his first helmet ever! Andrew was close to winning as well, but Paxton wouldn't be denied his first British bulldog win, and first helmet! Congrats again to Paxton!

We played handball this week! Both teams battled hard in a game of first to eleven. The game was close until Aiden's team pulled ahead with a lead of 10-7. Lance's team battled hard with a crazy comeback, making the score 10-10! Both teams fought for the last goal, with Matthias scoring for Aiden's team. Aiden's team won the game with a score of 11-10! Congrats to Aiden's team on the win!

This week we continued our Bible study series of Jesus being the way, the truth, and the life. This week our Bible study topic was the truth!

Here are some Bible passages we read on the truth:

John 4:23-24  -  Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.

John 8:31-32  -  To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 14:6  -  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

2 Timothy 2:15  -  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Jesus is the truth, and the truth is what sets us free. Jesus also wants us to be truthful. If we accept his truth, the Gospel, Jesus will give us new life. He then will also give us the way to be in Heaven with him.

We had another awesome night at Battalion this Wednesday! Thank you to all the boys and leaders who came! Remember, Battalion is like Heaven, there's always room for one more! So bring a friend next week!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Aiden on his fifth helmet of the Battalion year! Paxton and Ashton were both there at the end with Aiden, but only Aiden made it through to the end! Congrats again to Aiden on the helmet and the win!

This week we played Murderball! Murderball is always really awesome to play. Both Lance and Coady's teams each won 2 games, making it a tie. We played a tie-breaker game, with Lance's team taking the victory! Congrats to Lance's team!

This week our Bible study topic was about Jesus being the way.

Here are some Bible passages we read on this topic:

John 14:6  -  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Acts 4:10,12  -  Then know this, you and all people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

Romans 8:34  -  Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Jesus is the one and only way to Heaven. Jesus died so that we can live with him in Heaven for eternity. We just have to confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, and we will be saved.

Thanks to all the boys and leaders who came this week to Battalion! It was awesome! Don't forget that there is Battalion again this next Wednesday! Be there, and bring a friend!

BTLN UPDATE - G*I*T*D BASKETBALL

Congratulations to Kedir on his second helmet of the year! Andrew and Aiden were also there at the end with Kedir, but Kedir was the only one to make it to the wall during the final round. This gave Kedir the helmet and the win! Congrats again to Kedir!

This week we played G*I*T*D Basketball! This game is always super fun to play because of the glow-in-the-dark balls. We played for a while, then we went to a game of first to five. Coady's team had the lead the whole time, with Matthias's team keeping the score close. Coady's team finally won with a score of 5-3.

This week our Bible study topic was Compassion.

Here are some Bible verses we read on the topic of compassion:

Matthew 9:35-36  -  Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Matthew 15:32  -  Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way."

2 Peter 3:9  -  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Jesus had compassion for all the people in these passages. He felt sorry for the people, wanting to help them in their time of need. God had compassion for all of us, even though we've all sinned. He doesn't want any of us to die, but for all of us to come to repentance. He gives us another chance because of his love and compassion for us.

Thanks to all the boys and leaders who came to Battalion this week! It was another great Battalion night! Remember, Battalion is like Heaven, there's always room for one more! So bring a friend next week!

Congrats to Greg on his first helmet ever! Knighton was there at the end with Greg, but only Greg was able to make it to the wall! All the boys were chanting and lifting up Greg after he won British Bulldog! It was awesome. Congrats again to Greg!

This week we played stickball! This game worked well this week with the smaller group. All the boys were chanting every time someone was up to bat. The scores were close the entire time. Josh's team scored two home runs in the second inning, which gave his team a one point lead! Josh's team won stickball!

Stickball Final Scores
Josh's team - 8
Coady's team - 7
Matthias's team - 6
Mataeus's team - 5

This week our Bible study topic was Eternal security.

Here are some of the Bible passages we read on this subject:

2 Corinthians 1:21-22  -  Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Ephesians 1:13-14  -  And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of his glory.

Romans 8:38-39  -  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

If we accept Jesus as our saviour, and believe Jesus died for us and rose from the dead, we will be saved. There is absolutely nothing that can separate us from God once we accept him into our hearts. He has marked us in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, guaranteeing our inheritance in Heaven with him. I hope you are encouraged with these words.

Thank you to all the boys and leaders who came to Battalion this week! We are back at the church again next Wednesday! Remember, Battalion is like Heaven, there is always room for one more! So bring a friend!

BTLN UPDATE - MIKE NIGHT

Congrats to Caleb on his second helmet of the Battalion year! Aiden and Derek were both close to winning British Bulldog as well, but Caleb was the only one to make it to the wall in the final three! Congrats again to Caleb on the helmet and the win!

This week we played Mike! Mike was really awesome this week, with us finally getting a chance this year to play with four teams! It's always a really cool game with the flickering strobe light, and the light-up balls bouncing around. Josh's team had a lead for most of the game, but fell behind in the final round. Mataeus's team took the victory with a 2-point lead!

Mike Night Final Scores
Mataeus's team - 121
Josh's team - 119
Coady's team - 105
Matthias's team - 99

This week our Bible study topic was the Power of God.

Here are some of the Bible verses we read:

Romans 1:16  -  For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

1 Corinthians 1:18  -  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Ephesians 6:10-11  -  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

No one is more powerful than God, and there is no one who loves you more than God. God is always cheering for you, and always ready to help you. We just have to choose him as our saviour, and believe in him.

Battalion was awesome this week, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who came out and made it awesome! Battalion is back at the church again next Wednesday! Be there, and bring a friend!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Kedir on his first British Bulldog win ever! Kedir was the only one to make it to the wall during the last round, giving him the win and the helmet!

This week we played Murderball! Lance's team dominated, and won the first two games. Josh's team won the third game, and Lance's team won the fourth. The final game went back and forth, with both teams getting really close to winning. Josh's team finally won the last game, making the final score 3-2 for Lance's team.

This week we finally finished off our Fruits of the Spirit Bible studies. Our Bible study topic was self-control.

Here are some verses we read on the topic of self-control:

Galatians 5:22-24  -  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Titus 2:2  -  Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

Titus 2:11-12  -  For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.

We must learn to have self-control. When we are being tempted and need help, me must go to God for that help. God will help us with self-control, and any other thing we need help with. God is always cheering us on, wanting us to choose Him.

Thank you to all the boys and leaders who came to Battalion this week! We hope to see you again this next Wednesday at Battalion! Be there, and bring a friend!
