BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Deshawn! This was Deshawn's first Helmet of the Btln Season! Josh was there at the end with Deshawn, and was close to winning for the second week in a row, but Deshawn was not to be denied! Deshawn ran right through everyone!

Three weeks into the new Btln year and we hadn't played Murderbal! (That has to be a Btln record) So this week we broke in the new gym floor with some Murderball! We tried something new this week. The team that lost the previous game was given one ball in hand to start the next game! You wouldn't think that one ball would make any difference, but it did look like it changed the momentum for the losing team. The evening ended in a 3-3 game tie. (Not sure we have ever had a tie before) We just ran out of time. We need to come up with a quick tie breaker.

Our Bible study topic this week was "The Bible's advice to Young Men".

Ecclesiastes 12:1a   Remember your Creator in the days of your youth,

2 Timothy 2:22   Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Psalm 119:9   How can a young man stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.

1 Timothy 4:12   Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

1 Peter 5:5-9   Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

I love the advice in these passages! There is so much to learn from these passages, how can we summarize? Young men need to work towards purity and avoid pride. How can we reach this goal? We need to remember that without our Creator we cannot achieve these goals! We need to live according to his word!

Just because you are young doesn't mean that cannot set a good example to those that are older!  We can be good examples in speech, conduct, love, faith, righteousness, peace and purity!

Next week is "Mike Night"!
