BTLN UPDATE
Congrats Alex! This was Alex's first Helmet ever! It is so much fun watching the reaction of a first time Helmet winner. The rest of the guys were so happy for Alex, it was a moment that I won't forget for a long time. The brotherhood at Btln is amazing! Keegan was running over and through guys, but was unable to outlast Alex. All Bulldog is fun, but this week was exceptional.
This week we played Handball. I tried to make teams by dividing the boys into North and South Grand Forks. (North or South of the Highway) The South badly outnumbered the North, forcing me to make teams the old way. (I am definitely going to try this again. Maybe at the Three B's?) We played Handball for around fifteen minutes before we restarted and went to "first team to score three times". Keegan scored first for Devin's team, Mike added a second for Devin's team making the score 2-0. My team got one, but shortly after Keegan got the winner giving Devin's team the 3-1 win! (Keegan was dominating all night!)
This week we had the awesome privilege of listening to Ryley give the Bible study!
Matthew 4:18-22 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Mark 2:14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
John 1:43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”
Ryley pointed out that Jesus' instruction to the disciples and to us is that we need to follow him(Jesus). Part of following Jesus would include fishing for people. (Sharing the Gospel with everyone that we come into contact with.) Ryley made it clear that it is not possible to follow more than one person. We cannot follow Jesus and someone else that is going in a different direction. The way that Jesus asks us to live is completely different than the way the world is telling us to live. Lastly, Ryley talked about the cost of following Jesus. The disciples were willing give up their jobs and leave their families in order to follow Jesus. The disciples were willing to give up everything.
Matthew 16:25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
The amazing thing is, that in giving up their lives, the disciples were gaining a better life!
It is the Three B's next week! (Btln Christmas Party)
