BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Tyson! This was Tyson's second Helmet of the Btln Season! It was Tyson and Luke at the end, both looking for their second Helmet of the Season. Tyson looked to be down on the second to last round, but he powered through for the win and the Helmet!

This week we played Glow in the Dark Basketball! It has been a while since we played GITD Basketball, nobody seemed to remember playing it before. (The last time we played GITD Basketball was February 2014.) The guys played for a while with two basketballs, giving them a chance to warm up and letting their eyes adjust to the dark. We removed a ball and played first team to three baskets wins. My team was up 2-0 early, making it look easy. Devin's team battled back to make the score 2-2. Dylan and Keegan were too much for my team, dominating the boards. Keegan eventually made the winning shot giving Devin's team the 3-2 victory!

In Bible study we looked at the Compassion of Jesus while he was on earth.

Matthew 9:35-36   Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Matthew 15:32   Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”

Mark 1:40-42   A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.

Mark 6:32-34   So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

Luke 7:11-15   Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

This is just a small sample of Jesus' compassion from the Gospels. Jesus was concerned about the spiritual state as well as the physical problems of all the people that he came into contact with. Jesus taught the people, fed them and healed the sick.

Hebrews 7:25   Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Jesus is just as compassionate with us. He died for us and lives to make intercession for us!

Psalm 86:15   But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

It is the 22nd Battalion Olympics next week!
