BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Keegan! Keegan has his first ever Btln Helmet! Keegan is a beast to take down! I predict many more Helmets in his future! Jonathan, Nate, Ben and Noah were all there at the end with Keegan. It was a tough finish, nearly all the big bodies were there at the end.

Congrats also goes out to Stephan! Stephan is the 25th Member of Btln 3739 to complete the Memory Work! Stephan is the first Member to finish the Memory Work this year and book his trip to Creation 2015!

This week we played Murderball for probably the second last time this year! The games were close, but that doesn't make losing feel any better. My team lost the first three games, before winning the forth to break the shutout.

In Bible study our topic was submission to authorities.

Romans 13:1-5   Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.

There were several things that we learned in our study.

1) God has established all authorities.

2) If we rebel against the authorities that God has out into place then we are also rebelling against God.
3) If we want to be free from fear of those in authority we need to do what is right.

4) Authorities are God's servants to do us good.

5) Parents, teachers, police, employers and pastors are just some of the authorities that God has placed over us.

6) There is one exception to the rule. When the authorities contradict the Word of God.

Acts 4:19   But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!

Acts 5:29   Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!

On the whole however, submitting to authorities is good for us. Most of the rules that have been put into place are there to protect us.

James 4:7   Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

If we can learn to submit to God then submitting to the other authorities in our lives will be become more natural.
