BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Jonathan! Jonathan won Bulldog and now has three Helmets, putting him into a second place tie with Nate and only one win behind Lukas! The race for Winston is so close! The finish is going to be awesome!

The games we play at Battalion are so different when the number of guys change. This week we played Murderball and with the smaller numbers there was a lot more running involved. There is more opportunity to battle back when your team is behind. It was probably the best Murderball we have played all year! My team lost the first three games. We were up early in the second game and probably should have won, but Ben's team battled back to beat us. My team won the fourth game, avoiding the shutout but losing the series 3-1.

In Bible study we looked at the Creation story (Genesis 1:20-28)

Genesis 1:1   In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

In Genesis, when we read about the Creation of the universe, God singles out the earth because he has a special plan for the earth. (The heavens and the earth.)

Genesis 1:14-18   And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.

The sun, moon and stars were created to provide light and to mark seasons, days and years for the earth.

Genesis 1:25-27   God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

God made the animals according to their kinds, but man was made in God's image! Man was the only thing made in God's image! We are by far the most important thing that God created! Even when Adam sinned, God provided a way through Jesus' death and resurrection to fix the broken relationship between God and man! One day we will be able to live with God!

Revelation 21:3-4   And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

It is Mike Night next week!
