Thirty-five men and boys met at Treadmill for the 34th Annual Btln 3739 May Long Campout! Bruce and I were talking, and after looking through my records, I am fairly certain that this was our 34th year! The first year was at Jewel Lake, and the second year was at Christina Lake, but was at a different beach. (I think it was Axel Johnson.) We spent one year at the Texas Point campground, and also spent a year at Ole Johnson campground. But we always ended up coming home to Treadmill! This year I was wondering out loud whether we should move the May Long Campout to a different site. I am not sure that the campout would work anywhere else. After all, Treadmill is home to Btln 3739 for one weekend in May!
The May Long Campout is the traditional deadline to have all of the Memory Work done for the Btln year. This year four guys were close, but had not finished. Maxwell, Jonathan, Ben and Noah all finished the Memory work at the Campout! Luke finished earlier in the year bringing our total this year to five guys completing the Memory Work! So proud! Great work guys!
Playing Cribbage has always been a part of May Long history. Nine years ago we decided to finally find out who really was the best Cribbage players on the beach, so we organized a Cribbage Tourney! This year Jakob and Bruce were the best! 26 men competed for the right to have there names engraved on the trophy! Dad and I ended up on the same team for the second time in nine years. Last time we were on the same team we won the tourney. This time around we were back in the final, but could not beat Jake and Bruce! Congrats to Jake and Bruce! Worthy Champions!
The 3rd annual May Long Regatta was held in Treadmill creek in the pouring rain! Not sure what the final verdict was, pretty sure that Noah and Ben's entry was the winner again! It is always fun to watch the guys running with their Regatta Stick in hand trying to keep their boat moving!
Friday the weather was way better than expected! We didn't have any rain on Friday but on Saturday it poured! It was some of the heaviest rain I have ever seen at Treadmill! Some of the guys tents and sleeping bags were soaked! I am so thankful that Saturday night the rain stopped! Sunday morning was the nicest weather we saw all weekend, giving us the perfect chance to slowly pack up so we could head home! As bad as the weather was on Saturday, it was still a great weekend!
Props goes out to Tyler who kayaked out to Treadmill! (In 45 minutes!) Who needs a motor anyways?
