2014 BTLN MEMORY WORK LEGENDS

 

Max has set a Btln record that will never be broken! Max has completed the Memory work for a record breaking sixth time! Congrats Max! We here at the blog salute you! Max has set the standard very high for those that will follow him!

 

Jonathan has tied Legends Devan England, Ben Jepsen, Devin Chursinoff, Zach Gobbett and GeRRald Nicholson with four! Very good company to be associated with!

 

Ben now has three to his name and Noah and Luke both have completed the Memory Work twice!

 

So proud of all the guys! The Memory Work has now been completed more than sixty times! So exciting! So stoked!

BTLN UPDATE - MAYLONG 2014

 

 

Thirty-five men and boys met at Treadmill for the 34th Annual Btln 3739 May Long Campout! Bruce and I were talking, and after looking through my records, I am fairly certain that this was our 34th year! The first year was at Jewel Lake, and the second year was at Christina Lake, but was at a different beach. (I think it was Axel Johnson.) We spent one year at the Texas Point campground, and also spent a year at Ole Johnson campground. But we always ended up coming home to Treadmill! This year I was wondering out loud whether we should move the May Long Campout to a different site. I am not sure that the campout would work anywhere else. After all, Treadmill is home to Btln 3739 for one weekend in May! 

 

The May Long Campout is the traditional deadline to have all of the Memory Work done for the Btln year. This year four guys were close, but had not finished. Maxwell, Jonathan, Ben and Noah all finished the Memory work at the Campout! Luke finished earlier in the year bringing our total this year to five guys completing the Memory Work!  So proud! Great work guys!

 

Playing Cribbage has always been a part of May Long history. Nine years ago we decided to finally find out who really was the best Cribbage players on the beach, so we organized a Cribbage Tourney! This year Jakob and Bruce were the best!  26 men competed for the right to have there names engraved on the trophy! Dad and I ended up on the same team for the second time in nine years. Last time we were on the same team we won the tourney. This time around we were back in the final, but could not beat Jake and Bruce! Congrats to Jake and Bruce! Worthy Champions!

 

The 3rd annual May Long Regatta was held in Treadmill creek in the pouring rain! Not sure what the final verdict was, pretty sure that Noah and Ben's entry was the winner again! It is always fun to watch the guys running with their Regatta Stick in hand trying to keep their boat moving!

 

Friday the weather was way better than expected! We didn't have any rain on Friday but on Saturday it poured! It was some of the heaviest rain I have ever seen at Treadmill! Some of the guys tents and sleeping bags were soaked! I am so thankful that Saturday night the rain stopped! Sunday morning was the nicest weather we saw all weekend, giving us the perfect chance to slowly pack up so we could head home! As bad as the weather was on Saturday, it was still a great weekend!  

 

Props goes out to Tyler who kayaked out to Treadmill! (In 45 minutes!) Who needs a motor anyways?

BTLN BIRTHDAYS - MAY

May is here! Battalion is over for the year, but we still have the May long Campout! It is less than two weeks until we are sitting on Treadmill! There are so many guys having birthdays in May!  I am feeling very blessed to know these guys and to be able to call them friends!

1 Corinthians 1:4-6  I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you.

MAXWELL NICHOLSON - 2014 BTLN WINSTON CHAMPION

 

Congratulations Max! 2014 Btln Winston Champion! Max won most of his Helmets in the first third of the Btln Season and then hung on for the win! It seems like you need to win early to be able to win Winston.

LAST NIGHT 2014

 

Wow what a night! We had 60 guys at our Last Night of Btln! It was amazing! I am sure that this was a record for Last Night at Btln! We started the Last Night with Murderball! My team won the first two games fairly easily, but then lost the next two games. The last game was the closest of the five, it went back and forth at first, but in the end my team prevailed! We won 3-2! I have bragging rights all summer!

 

After Murderball we ate the 9 foot party sub! It doesn't take long for 60 guys to devour a 9 foot sub! Next we had a cake that Max made! It was awesome! The cake was in the shape of a Bible with 2 Timothy 2:1-3 written on it! (Also had a sword and torch behind the Bible!)

 

The Grad ceremony was next. All eight grads received their Bibles and dog tags and then they all received a piece of paper with the Btln Hebrew saying on it! After reading the English translation the grads ate the paper!

 

We had the traditional group photo and then it was time for Bulldog! Rik was in the middle to start after winning the Btln Masters. Maxwell quickly sacrificed himself so that he could take out John Van and clinch Winston! Congrats Maxwell, 2014 Winston Champion! Nate won Bulldog and his second Helmet of the year! Congrats Nate!

 

Once we were done with Bulldog we prayed and then the night at the gym was over!

 

The grade 11's and 12's and Alumni went to the Station for the traditional After party. The grads received their Btln Medallions at the After party. After more food and visiting Last Night and the Btln year were both over!
