BTLN UPDATE - CHRIS IS THE KING!

Chris has clinched Winston and is now without a doubt the King of Btln 3739 for the 2010/11 season! Congratulations Chris! Chris tied the record for the most Helmets in one season with six.(Sam set the record last year.) Chris is also the first Winston Champion to get all of his Helmet wins in Bulldog!
The night started with "Pop n Dogs" and then moved to the final Btln Football of the year. Parker Steadman was the only one to score a touchdown this week! The game was a defensive struggle. Again like previous weeks it didn't rain but it also wasn't very warm.
This year we have been looking at Jesus' life and with this week being the last Bible study of the year it was fitting to end with Jesus' death and resurrection.(It is also convenient that it is Easter this weekend!) (Matthew 27:32 - Matthew 28:10, Mark 15:33 - Mark 16:14, Luke 23:26 - Luke 24:53, John 19:17 - John 20:31)
It is amazing how Jesus stays strong and pure to the very end, enduring all of the abuse both physical and verbal.

Matthew 27:44 In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

Luke 23:39-43 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

How foolish can man be? These men were dying and they were still abusing the Lord! After watching Jesus on the cross one of the criminals is convinced that Jesus is God and asks for forgiveness! If only our actions could have similar results! Even on the cross Jesus' life changed those around him! And because of what Jesus did on the cross our lives and those around us can also be changed!

Colossians 2:13-15 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Hebrews 2:14,15 Since the children have flesh and blood, he(Jesus)too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death-that is, the devil-and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Just when it looked like Jesus was defeated he rose from the dead and triumphed over death and the devil!

Once again, congratulations to Chris(The King)the 2010/11 Winston Champion!

Next week is our Last Night of the 2010/11 Season! There will be a nine foot party sub from Subway!

Remember, Battalion is like heaven, there is always room for one more! So bring a friend!
