BTLN UPDATE

The streak is alive! What streak you ask? It hasn't rained on Btln football for as long as I can remember!(It has been at least fifteen years. We play football two or three times every April.) It looked like the streak was in jeopardy earlier in the day. It hailed, rained and snowed all day long. It was cold, but we actually had the Son shining on us and blue skies!
We started with "Pop n Dogs" again this week, plenty of Menno consumed by the guys! (Probably about 40 Menno dogs this week.)
Another defensive battle on the gridiron this week with only two touchdowns scored. The final score was 14-0 for my team(We had Aaron, Joe and Zach.)beating Owen's team.(Owen had Ryley, Dustin and Chris(The King)on his team.) Harley scored the first touchdown pulling out the first star and Matt wraps up the second star with his touchdown. Third star goes out to the Btln Alumni, I am continually impressed.
After Football we packed into the vehicles and went back to the church for Bible study.(It was way too cold to sit outside!) This week in the Bible study we looked at the Jesus' "Triumphal Entry" into Jerusalem. (Luke 19:28-44, Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11 and John 12:12-19)

Matthew 21:6-9 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"

Luke 19:37-40 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!" "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

What a sight this must have been! Jesus was finally being honoured.(God will be honoured! If the crowds had not honoured Jesus the rocks would have.) The problem was that it didn't last. The people were shouting "Hosanna in the highest" but only a week later they were shouting "Crucify him!"
The question is, will we honour Jesus with our lives like the disciples? Or will we be like the crowd who could not make up their mind?

Luke 19:41-42 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace.

God wants to give you a peace that transcends all understanding!(Philippians 4:6-8)

We finished the night with Bulldog.(Like we always do!) In the end it was Dalton and Zane fighting it out for the Helmet with Dalton pulling out the big win! Congrats Dalton!

Next week we are at Cascade Par Three for the sixth annual Btln Masters! We will meet at the church at 6:45 p.m. and leave for the golf course at around 7:00 p.m.!
