BTLN UPDATE

Another week is in the books! This time around it was Zane with the big win! Congrats Zane! Chris(The King)was close to his fifth Helmet of the Btln season but Zach took him down giving Zane his third Helmet!
This week we tried something different, we played a mini three game tourney. We played one game of Handball up to ten and then a best of three Murderball tourney and finished with Extreme Bulldog.(The Battalion 3739 Trifecta!) (We kept the same teams for all three games.) It looked like the Martens brothers team(Jeremy, Lance and Chris.) would take the Handball game with an early 5-1 advantage but the Chursinoff brothers team (Blake, Devin and Zach) fought back and won the first leg of the Trifecta 10-7. Murderball was a disaster for the Martens team losing 3-0. The final leg of the Trifecta ended like the other two with the Chursinoff team winning Extreme Bulldog and the Btln Trifecta 3-0.(We got slaughtered!)
The Bible study this week was from John 5:1-18. The story was about the invalid that was waiting at the pool to be healed. This man was 38 years old and had been waiting a long time beside the pool to be healed. An angel would stir the water and the first one into the pool would be healed. Being an invalid it was nearly impossible for him to be first into the pool. Along comes Jesus and filled with compassion for this man he heals the invalid! Jesus tells the invalid to pick up his mat and walk, but because it was on the Sabbath the Jews are upset. It is amazing to see the lack of compassion from the Jews! The Jews are more concerned that this man is carrying his mat than that he was healed! The Jews knew the truth but did not act on it! It is not enough to know the truth, we must also follow it. Jeremy pointed out that the most important part of this meeting between Jesus and the invalid was not the healing of the invalid but the meeting itself! We need to meet Jesus! He will meet us were we are! Jesus wants to save us from our sinful condition!

1 Peter 2:24 - He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

After Battalion the older guys headed over to the Station for snacks(Cross Trax) and a meeting. Plenty of laughs and a few good ideas for the second half. A new game called Murderdog came from this meeting. (Invented by Zane and named by Dalton.) Can't wait to try it! Many of our best traditions came from these meetings. Murderdog could be a classic!

Next week is Winterslam 6!(Boxing!) Make sure to be early and bring a friend!
