BTLN UPDATE





Congrats to Andrew on his first helmet ever! Brett and Jonny were both close to winning British Bulldog as well, but it was Andrew's night to win! Congrats again to Andrew!


This week we played stickball! With 29 guys playing stickball, it was super exciting! The boys were chanting and cheering the entire time! All the scores were close, with Matthias and Jason's teams ending in a tie. We decided to have a lightsaber battle for the tie-breaker. Aiden represented Jason's team, and Caleb represented Matthias's team. They battled hard, with Aiden beating Caleb. Jason and Aiden's team won stickball with the tie-breaker!

When we finished stickball, we all went down for the Bible study. When we got down to the Battalion room, everybody was singing happy birthday to Kedir! After the Bible study we went up for British Bulldog! During the first round of British Bulldog, all the boys ran after Kedir and dogpiled him for his birthday! I love Battalion traditions!


This week we finished our Bible study series on John 14:6. This week's theme was Jesus being the life.

Here are some Bible passages we read on the life:


John 14:6  -  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 1:1-4  -  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

John 3:16  -  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Galatians 2:20  -  I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.


Jesus is the life and gives the only true life. If we accept Jesus as our saviour, he lives within us, and gives us new life. When we as believers die on earth, we get to live the perfect life with God in Heaven for eternity. We have so much to look forward to!

BTLN UPDATE

 




Congrats to Paxton on his first helmet ever! Andrew was close to winning as well, but Paxton wouldn't be denied his first British bulldog win, and first helmet! Congrats again to Paxton!


We played handball this week! Both teams battled hard in a game of first to eleven. The game was close until Aiden's team pulled ahead with a lead of 10-7. Lance's team battled hard with a crazy comeback, making the score 10-10! Both teams fought for the last goal, with Matthias scoring for Aiden's team. Aiden's team won the game with a score of 11-10! Congrats to Aiden's team on the win!


This week we continued our Bible study series of Jesus being the way, the truth, and the life. This week our Bible study topic was the truth!

Here are some Bible passages we read on the truth:


John 4:23-24  -  Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.

John 8:31-32  -  To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 14:6  -  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

2 Timothy 2:15  -  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.


Jesus is the truth, and the truth is what sets us free. Jesus also wants us to be truthful. If we accept his truth, the Gospel, Jesus will give us new life. He then will also give us the way to be in Heaven with him.

BTLN UPDATE

 





Congrats to Aiden on his fifth helmet of the Battalion year! Paxton and Ashton were both there at the end with Aiden, but only Aiden made it through to the end! Congrats again to Aiden on the helmet and the win!


This week we played Murderball! Murderball is always really awesome to play. Both Lance and Coady's teams each won 2 games, making it a tie. We played a tie-breaker game, with Lance's team taking the victory! Congrats to Lance's team!


This week our Bible study topic was about Jesus being the way.

Here are some Bible passages we read on this topic:


John 14:6  -  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Acts 4:10,12  -  Then know this, you and all people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

Romans 8:34  -  Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.


Jesus is the one and only way to Heaven. Jesus died so that we can live with him in Heaven for eternity. We just have to confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, and we will be saved.

BTLN UPDATE - G*I*T*D BASKETBALL

 





Congratulations to Kedir on his second helmet of the year! Andrew and Aiden were also there at the end with Kedir, but Kedir was the only one to make it to the wall during the final round. This gave Kedir the helmet and the win! Congrats again to Kedir!


This week we played G*I*T*D Basketball! This game is always super fun to play because of the glow-in-the-dark balls. We played for a while, then we went to a game of first to five. Coady's team had the lead the whole time, with Matthias's team keeping the score close. Coady's team finally won with a score of 5-3.


This week our Bible study topic was Compassion.

Here are some Bible verses we read on the topic of compassion:


Matthew 9:35-36  -  Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Matthew 15:32  -  Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way."

2 Peter 3:9  -  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.


Jesus had compassion for all the people in these passages. He felt sorry for the people, wanting to help them in their time of need. God had compassion for all of us, even though we've all sinned. He doesn't want any of us to die, but for all of us to come to repentance. He gives us another chance because of his love and compassion for us.

BTLN UPDATE





Congrats to Greg on his first helmet ever! Knighton was there at the end with Greg, but only Greg was able to make it to the wall! All the boys were chanting and lifting up Greg after he won British Bulldog! It was awesome. Congrats again to Greg!


This week we played stickball! This game worked well this week with the smaller group. All the boys were chanting every time someone was up to bat. The scores were close the entire time. Josh's team scored two home runs in the second inning, which gave his team a one point lead! Josh's team won stickball!

This week our Bible study topic was Eternal security.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22  -  Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Ephesians 1:13-14  -  And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of his glory.

 Romans 8:38-39  -  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.


If we accept Jesus as our saviour, and believe Jesus died for us and rose from the dead, we will be saved. There is absolutely nothing that can separate us from God once we accept him into our hearts. He has marked us in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, guaranteeing our inheritance in Heaven with him. I hope you are encouraged with these words.

BTLN UPDATE - MIKE NIGHT





Congrats to Caleb on his second helmet of the Battalion year! Aiden and Derek were both close to winning British Bulldog as well, but Caleb was the only one to make it to the wall in the final three! Congrats again to Caleb on the helmet and the win!


This week we played Mike! Mike was really awesome this week, with us finally getting a chance this year to play with four teams! It's always a really cool game with the flickering strobe light, and the light-up balls bouncing around. Josh's team had a lead for most of the game, but fell behind in the final round. Mataeus's team took the victory with a 2-point lead!

This week our Bible study topic was the Power of God.

Romans 1:16  -  For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

1 Corinthians 1:18  -  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Ephesians 6:10-11  -  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.


No one is more powerful than God, and there is no one who loves you more than God. God is always cheering for you, and always ready to help you. We just have to choose him as our saviour, and believe in him.

BTLN UPDATE

 





Congrats to Kedir on his first British Bulldog win ever! Kedir was the only one to make it to the wall during the last round, giving him the win and the helmet!


This week we played Murderball! Lance's team dominated, and won the first two games. Josh's team won the third game, and Lance's team won the fourth. The final game went back and forth, with both teams getting really close to winning. Josh's team finally won the last game, making the final score 3-2 for Lance's team.


This week we finally finished off our Fruits of the Spirit Bible studies. Our Bible study topic was self-control. 

Here are some verses we read on the topic of self-control:


Galatians 5:22-24  -  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Titus 2:2  -  Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

Titus 2:11-12  -  For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.


We must learn to have self-control. When we are being tempted and need help, me must go to God for that help. God will help us with self-control, and any other thing we need help with. God is always cheering us on, wanting us to choose Him.

BTLN UPDATE






Congrats Brennan! Brennan has now won his second helmet of this Battalion year! Caleb was in the final two with Brennan, also fighting for a second helmet, but Brennan was the only one able to make it to the wall. Brennan was victorious, taking the helmet and the British Bulldog win!


This week, we played handball! It was awesome because everyone was playing hard right from the beginning! We played for a while, then we went to overtime. Overtime was first to three goals wins. Josh's team ended up scoring three goals in a row, beating Luke's team, 3-0.


This week, we continued our Bible study theme, by going over another Fruit of the Spirit! This week our theme was gentleness.

Here are some verses we read on the subject of gentleness:


Proverbs 15:1  -  A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Ephesians 4:1-3  -  As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.


We must learn to be gentle, to turn away anger. Gentleness is one of the qualities of God that He wants us to have as well.

BTLN UPDATE - THE THREE B'S

 







Congrats Jaxon! This was Jaxon's third helmet of the Btln season! Jonny and Caleb were both at the end with Jaxon, but Jaxon was the only one to make it to the wall during the last round. Jaxon survived, taking the helmet and the win!


This year, there were over 50 guys at the Three B's! The guys devoured 10 Battalion Baconator pizzas, 5 cases of Mug rootBeer, over 100 Bonuts, and one huge pot of Beans!


Congrats to Aiden Burch on completing the Battalion 3739 Memory Work!!! Aiden completed the memory work for the first time ever in just 6 weeks! Aiden received his Btln Medallion tonight after the food. Welcome to the world of Gentlemen, Aiden.


At the Three B's, we are always short on time, but we always make time for Murderball! Luke's team did well at the beginning, and won the first game. After that, Lance's team turned things around, and won the next two games. Luke's team won the next game, making it a tie, with a score of 2-2. Both teams battled hard during the tie-breaker game, with Luke's team taking the victory! Luke's team won overall with a score of 3-2!


After we played Murderball, we went down to the Btln room. Joshua Martens missed his Last Night of Battalion in Grade 12, because of the Btln Hiatus. Since Josh missed his Battalion grad ceremony, he recieved his grad Bible this week at the 3B's. Josh also got to read the Hebrew saying as part of his Battalion graduation. Congrats to Josh!


After this we listened to the Christmas story from the Bible, and then headed upstairs for British Bulldog.


Finally, we finished the night off with the new Battalion shirts! The Return of Btln theme for the shirts felt appropriate after a break from Battalion. All the boys left with a brand new Battalion shirt!


Thank you to everyone who came this week to Battalion! The Three B's was a huge success! This was a great end to an amazing First Half of the Battalion year! Special thanks to Lance, Luke, Josh, Mataeus, Coady, Ben, Jason, Matthias, and everyone else who made the First Half of the Btln year a success! We could not have Btln without you!

BTLN UPDATE - THE 26TH BATTALION OLYMPICS

 






Congratulations to Aiden Burch! Aiden is the 2022 Battalion Olympics Champion! In the five events, Aiden finished with one first place, one second place, one third place, one fifth place, and one sixth place finish for a total of 28 points! It was an amazing night and an awesome return to the Battalion Olympics! Brennan finished second, and Kedir finished in third place. There was a three way tie for third place with Kedir, Caleb, and Andrew all earning 26 points, but Kedir had the tie breaker, which was a first place finish.


This year we had 34 competitors in the 26th Battalion Olympics! We had 5 different guys win the five events this year, and all of them were first time event winners! Brennan won Arm Wrestling, Aiden won Bench Wrestling, Kedir won Box Hockey, Nelson won Basketball, and Sawyer won the Football Toss! Congratulations to all the winners!

BTLN UPDATE

 




Congrats to Aiden on his third helmet of the year! Brennan, Andrew, and Kedir were all close to winning British Bulldog this week. Kedir and Andrew both got taken down, leaving Aiden and Brennan for the final two. Aiden and Brennan both went down during the same round at the end, but Aiden made further progress, earning the helmet and the win. 


This week we played stickball. It was super energetic with all the boys chanting during the game. All four teams were playing well, with a bunch of home runs being scored during the first inning. Jason's team scored the most runs and won stickball.

This week's Bible study topic was on contentment.

 Hebrews 13:5  -  Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Philippians 4:12-13  -  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.


People are always searching for contentment, but are never fully satisfied because they are not searching in the right place. God is the true and only source for contentment. God will always be with you, and will give you the strength you need. Trust in God.

BTLN UPDATE - MIKE NIGHT





Congrats to Derek on his first helmet ever! Jonny and Kedir were also at the end with Derek, but Derek would not be denied his first British Bulldog win. Congrats again to Derek!


This week we played Mike! Mike is always an exciting game with the strobe light and the balls bouncing everywhere. This time we played with only two teams, instead of four, because there was a smaller group of boys. The game went well with only two teams. The scores were going back and forth until the end, when Matthias's team beat Josh's team.

This week our Bible study topic was faithfulness.

Psalm 36:5  -  Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.

Psalm 86:15  -  But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Psalm 100:5  -  For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.


God is always faithful, and will be with us through it all. The Bible tells us many times that the Lord is faithful, because it is very important for us to know that.

BTLN UPDATE





Congrats to Caleb on his first helmet ever! Brennan and Derek were also there at the end, but Caleb wouldn't be denied his first British Bulldog win!


This week at Battalion we played Handball! We had two balls in play at the beginning, and ended with only one ball. Gabe scored the final goal for Jason's team, taking the win!


 This week our Bible study topic was on Kindness and Goodness.

Here are some Bible Passages on the subjects of Kindness and Goodness:


2 Peter 1:3  -  His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

Colossians 3:12  -  Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

2 Thessalonians 1:11  -  With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.


God wants us to show goodness and kindness to one another, just as He did to us. Kindness is acts of goodness affecting others. We can learn to display the fruits of the spirit by following God's perfect example.

BTLN UPDATE - G*I*T*D BASKETBALL

 




Congrats Jaxon! This is Jaxon's second helmet of the Battalion Season! Jaxon is now tied for second with Bryce in the race for Winston! Derek and Jaxon both went down the last round, but Jaxon made more progress, giving him the win! Congrats again to Jaxon!


This week we played G*I*T*D Basketball! It is awesome getting to play with the glowing basketballs! We ended the game with overtime, playing the first team to three baskets wins. Coady made an awesome basket from the opposite free throw line, earning the first basket for the green team. Malcolm and Gabe scored the last two baskets for the green team, with the pink team not scoring a basket during overtime. The green team won, beating the pink team 3-0!


This week our Bible study topic was about the hope of every Christian.

Here are some of the Bible verses we read:


Titus 1:1-2  -  Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness- in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.

1 Thessalonians 5:8  -  But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

Hebrews 11:1  -  Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.


As Christians, we have a hope that is firm and secure, because we know that God cannot lie. We have hope of salvation, eternal life, the appearing of Jesus Christ, and of Christ in us. We can have faith in God, because we are sure of what we hope for. God is always truthful and faithful.

BTLN UPDATE - ROYAL RUMBLE 16

 






Congrats Aiden! Aiden Burch is the 2022 Royal Rumble Champion! Aiden won the last Royal Rumble in 2019, making Aiden Back-to-Back Champion of the Royal Rumble! Forty-one guys competed in the sixteenth Royal Rumble! That is twelve more guys than the last time we did it!


We always start the Royal Rumble with the Lightweight Division. Paxton, Julien, and Kedir were the final three for the Lightweight Division. All three of the boys were by the ropes at the end. Kedir was able to stay alive when the other two went out. Kedir won the Lightweight Division, earning himself a spot in the Heavyweight Division! 

Congrats to Kedir!

The Heavyweight Division went awesome! The final five were Bryce, Cam, Ashton, Brennan, and Aiden. All five of them were battling near the ropes, with three of them getting out. Aiden and Brennan survived that battle, making it to the final two! An amazing part of the Royal Rumble we've started in recent years, is the "Final Two-Ropes Down" tradition. All the boys sat on the ropes, making it easier to get shoved out of the ring. It is awesome to see all the boys watching and cheering on the final two! Brennan and Aiden battled it out for a little while, but eventually Aiden was able to shove Brennan out. Aiden kept his title of Royal Rumble Heavyweight Champion!


Congrats to both Aiden and Brennan, it was an amazing finish!

BTLN UPDATE

 




Congrats to Aiden on his first British Bulldog win ever! Brennan was there at the end with Aiden, but Aiden wouldn't be denied his first helmet win of the year!


This week at Battalion we played Murderball! We played Murderball the first Battalion night this year, making this our second time playing it this fall. Luke's team won the first two games, and they started chanting three for three! Lance's team ended their winning streak though, and won the third game! After that, Luke's team won the fourth game! Luke's team ended up taking the victory with three out of four wins!


This week our Bible study topic was patience. This is the fourth Fruit of the Spirit we have gone over.

Here are some of the Bible verses we read:


1 Corinthians 13:4-5  -  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Ephesians 4:1-3  -  As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.


Jesus has not returned yet, because He is being immensely patient with us, wanting us all to have a chance to choose Him as our saviour. We can learn to be patient with one another by Jesus's example.

BTLN UPDATE

 




Congrats Bryce! This was Bryce's second helmet of the year! Bryce is currently in the lead in the race for Winston! Bryce made it past everyone during the last round, while the other guys couldn't make it to the other side of the gym. This gave Bryce the win and the helmet!


This week we played stickball! It was an exciting game with all the boys chanting and banging on the walls. Each team had an even amount of turns at bat, giving every team the same chance at winning. The scores were close the whole time, but Luke's team scored the most runs, taking the win!

This week our Bible study topic was thanksgiving. We read through 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 in our squad meetings, and answered questions on the topic of thanksgiving.

Here are some of the other verses we read:


1 Corinthians 15:57  -  Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 136:1-3  -  Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever.


We also read the story of Daniel and the lion's den. Daniel trusted God and thanked God, even when things weren't going his way. We can learn to be thankful about God and His love, in spite of our bad situations!
