CREATION 2017 - SATURDAY - SUNDAY

 

I went into Saturday night with high expectations. We have not seen Skillet at Creation since 2011. I forgot how amazing the Skillet show was, it was one of the better concerts I have seen at Creation! Tenth Avenue North was also a very strong show. Saturday was definitely the best day at Creation 2017! The highlight of Saturday had to be meeting Skillet and giving John Cooper (Skillet) and Mike Donehey (Tenth Avenue North) their Battalion Medallions!

On Sunday we headed back home with a stop at the mall and Red Robin. Creation 2017 was such an amazing time, I can't wait until next year!

CREATION 2017 - FRIDAY

 

 

 

On Friday night it was Relient K was the band that I was most looking forward to, and they did not disappoint! At the Relient K sound check we were able to give Matt Hoopes a Btln Medallion! (sound check is our new friend!) Hillsong was definitely the surprise band of the whole festival. The whole place was jumping for the entire Hillsong concert! On Friday there was also Sumo Wrestling, Risk and plenty of time at the beach!

CREATION 2017 - THURSDAY

 

On Thursday the music started. On the Fringe Stage we listened to Beautiful Eulogy, Propaganda and Disciple. The last two concerts of the evening on the Main Stage were Bread of Stone and Family Force Five! We were able to meet FF5 as well as take pictures! The highlight of Thursday had to be giving Crouton and Fatty their Btln Medallions! We also spent a lot of time at the river and at our camp site, so many good memories!

CREATION 2017 - WEDNESDAY

Wednesday on the Btln 3739 Creation trip is a travel day. Our first stop is always at Wal-Mart in Colville to buy groceries for the week. After buying all the necessary groceries and posing with products like Ranch, Mayo, Sausage and Lard it was time to go to Red Robin in Spokane for lunch. After eating burgers (and salads) we were back on the road and didn't stop again until we reached the Creation site. After arriving, we set up camp and then cooked up some Menno for supper. After more visiting our first day was over, but our adventure had just begun!

One of the things that I do to prepare for the Creation Festival is update the Btln Arkives. After updating I thought that I should share the list of Btln Memory Work Legends. 33 Btln Members have completed the Memory Work a combined 85 times! I am so proud of everyone that has completed the Memory Work!

BTLN BIRTHDAYS - JUNE

It is June! There are so many amazing guys having birthdays this month! It is getting hard to keep track of all of the guys. (I'm not complaining!) I feel so blessed to know all of these men!

BTLN UPDATE - MAYLONG 2017

The 37th annual Maylong was another amazing campout! The weather was better than most that we have had in the last ten years. It only rained while we were sleeping on Friday night. After Friday night, the weather just kept getting better! This year both Dan and Devin brought their boys! New Btln Maylong records for youngest on the beach! (1 year olds!) It is so good to see the next generation at the Maylong!

In the Cribbage Tourney Final, three out of the four competitors had never won the Crib Tourney. It was Jason Hayashi and Josh Martens against Jeremy Martens and Eli Podovinikoff. Josh and Jason jumped out to a big lead that they would never relinquish. Congrats to Josh and Jason!

The Maylong is the end of the Btln Memory Work, so the guys were busy finishing. It is fun to have the guys reciting the Scriptures throughout the weekend! Tyson, Alex and Dolan all completed the Memory Work this year at the Maylong! (Luke, Jakob, Dylan and Josh all completed the Memory Work before the Maylong Campout!) I am so proud of all of the guys that finished the Memory Work this year! A Btln salute to those that did the Memory Work!

This year was the sixth year for the Maylong Regatta! Last year we made some changes to the Regatta. Instead of building boats we have numbered balls that we dump into the creek. This year it was Devin and Wade's ball that was the winner! Congrats to the father and son team!

2017 MAYLONG CAMPOUT INFO

So here is what you need to know about the 2017 Maylong Campout. The campout is at Treadmill Beach at the north end of Christina Lake. Treadmill is a boat access only campsite.

Maylong Ferry Schedule
I will be at the Texas Point Boat Launch at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Please leave a comment, message or phone me if you will be at the boat launch (at 1:00 p.m. or at 4:00 p.m.) so that I can plan ahead. If this doesn't work for you, or if you need a ride out on Saturday, please leave a comment, message or phone me. We will be back at the Texas boat Launch at noon on Sunday.

Congratulations to Jakob! Jakob Boschmann is the 2017 Btln 3739 Winston Champion! Jakob won 4 of 28 Helmets available this year! This year was one of the closest Winston races we have ever had Dylan was only one Helmet away from winning it all and Tyson and Luke were both one Major away from tying Jakob! BTLN UPDATE - LAST NIGHT OF 2017

 





For the twelfth year in a row we had an amazing "Last Night" to finish the Btln year! 50 guys showed up for the "Last Night" of 2017! We started the night with the Btln favourite, Murderball! Last year my team dominated "Last Night", winning 3-1! This year Ben's team dominated my team, winning 4-1!

After Murderball it was time to eat the nine foot party sub from Subway! It is amazing how fast all that food can disappear! In a little more than ten minutes the entire sub was gone! We also had cookies that I forgot to bring out until the night was over. I'm thinking Bonuts for "Last Night of 2018"!

Next we had the Btln Grad ceremony. Some years we have had as many as seven grads. This year Tyson Tiller was our only grad. Tyson did an amazing job leading Btln this year as our Sergeant! Tyson received his Bible and dog tag. It is always a privilege to give the grads their Bibles! We also gave Tyson the piece of paper with the English translation of the Hebrew Btln motto! Keeping with Btln tradition, Tyson ate the piece of paper after reading the motto.

We took the group picture and then it was time for Bulldog! There isn't anything quit like Bulldog on "Last Night". So many guys and so much extra energy! James was our final Helmet winner of the 2016/17 Btln Season! Congrats James!

This year Jakob Boschmann is the Winston Champion! Jakob is following in his brother's footsteps! (Lukas Boschmann, 2015) Congrats Jakob! You are a worthy Champion!

After closing the year with the Brigade Watchword the grade 11's and 12's went to the Station for the After Party! The After Party has always been a lot of fun, but this year the guys took it to a whole new level! It was so good to see all the guys having such an amazing time!

At the very end of the After Party Dylan Warwaruk finished the Memory Work! It is so much fun to watch the guys pick out their Medallion. I am so pumped that we will have Dylan with us at Creation this year! Congrats Dylan! Welcome to the world of gentlemen!

THE LAST NIGHT AFTER PARTY

The Last Night After Party started in 2006 because Ben Jepsen didn't want the night to end. So Ben, Joe, Jason, Charlie and I all drove to Boston Pizza in Kelowna! I think we got home at around 3 in the morning! Now we go to the Station, which is obviously way easier.

All grade 11's, 12's and Alumni are invited to the "After Party" which is "After" "Last Night of Btln.
