BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Riley! This is Riley's fourth Helmet of the Btln Season! It is so good to see Riley win one more Helmet before the end of the Btln year! It is hard to believe that the year is almost over!

This week we played Handball for the last time this year. It took a little while for the new guys to understand Handball and get into it. Once we got the mojo going, the game took off. In the end it was Isaac and Riley's team that took the win 2-1!

In the Bible Study our topic was "Jesus Serves".

Matthew 20:28   The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Jesus could have used his power and position to get whatever he wanted while he was on earth. Instead he came to serve! Jesus served us in a way that only he could. Jesus gave his life as a ransom for many!

Philippians 2:3-8   Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
    by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death
        even death on a cross!

If we are going to learn to serve then we need to try to apply this passage to our lives. If we do nothing out of selfish ambition and if we would always value others above ourselves then serving others would become natural. If we would learn to emulate Jesus' humility then serving others would become a passion. Jesus always put us first, "by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross!"
