BTLN UPDATE

Cody has been so close so many times, this time he would not be denied! Congrats Cody! First Helmet of the season!

This week it was the Btln Trifecta! We started with Handball and my team jumped out to an early lead, it was 4-1. It seemed like we let off a little and before we knew it the score was 6-6! It was next goal wins and it didn't take long for Jeremy and Joe's team to complete the comeback! Ben and the Captain's team 6 - Jeremy and Joe's team 7. Next it was Murderball. We split the first two games, the score 1-1. The third and deciding game was close but in the end it was Jeremy and Joe's team again taking the victory! winning the Trifecta 2-0.(No need for the third leg(Extreme Bulldog)of the Trifecta.

This week in our continuing series "Entrust to Reliable Men" we took a closer look at Peter.
(Matthew 4:18-20, Matthew 14:22-33, Matthew 16:13-17, Matthew 17:1-9, John 18:1-11, John 21:1-8, Acts 4:1-22, Acts 5:17-42)

Matthew 4:18-20 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

Joe and I were talking about this passage. Imagine dropping everything to follow Jesus! There was no delay in Peter's response. He was immediately all in! We don't need to drop everything like Peter did, but we need to put Jesus first like Peter! We also need to be fishers of Men like Peter!

John 21:1-8 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way: Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered. He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.

Peter could not wait for the boat to get to the shore! We need to be this desperate to spend time with Jesus! Do we make time to read our Bibles and to pray? Jesus is waiting for us just like he was for Peter.

Acts 4:18-20 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

Acts 5:41-42 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

Not only was Peter desperate to spend time with Jesus, he was also desperate to share Jesus!("We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.") Peter was willing to endure persecution to get the message out!
Imagine if we were all this desperate to share Jesus!

Last up was Bulldog. Jordan started in the middle and it didn't take long for him to take down most of the bigger guys! If we kept records for the quickest Bulldog games(The lowest round total.) it would have been close! It was amazing! In the end Cody Harp took the Helmet and the Yorkie! Congrats Cody!

Next week is the 17th Annual Btln Ping Pong Tourney!
