BTLN ALUMNI - THE WRAP
This is a couple days late, but this is due to the recovery time required after such an amazing(and late)night! Alumni Night has always been one of those nights that I wish I could make time stand still.(Remember the story about Joshua? He commanded the sun to stand still, so that Israel could finish off their enemies.)
Anyways, the night started with with the guys hanging out in the locker room and then to the gym for some Murderball. The Murderball at Alumni is always so intense, I look forward to it all year. (One night were I am not holding back.) We must have played at least eleven or twelve games, not sure but most were pretty quick. The team that got the early advantage usually finished the other team off. The final total was around 7-5 my team losing.(There is always next year!)
Next on the agenda was Bulldog and last year Sam Schiesser was the winner of Bulldog so this year it was Sam's turn to start in the middle. It took a couple of rounds but once a few guys had fallen it didn't take long for the the game to end. Geoff Martens(Sergeant 89) took the win and the Yorkie! Congrats Geoff! Winning Bulldog at Alumni is huge!
This year Ben Jepsen(Sergeant 06)was the Sergeant receiving his Jersey from our "One Forward and One Back" Sergeant Jersey program. Jason Hayashi(Sergeant 07) and Devin Chursinoff(Sergeant 08) both presented Ben with his Jersey. Congrats Bent! Next year we will be going two back because Zach will be Sergeant for two years in a row. Calvin Peters(Sergeant 05) and Justin Thompson(Sergeant 04) are next in line to receive their Jerseys.
After a picture it was time to move the party to Jepsen's. Once again thanks to Bruce and Katie for their hospitality! More visiting, hot tubbing, pizza and games. Finally at around three in the morning Ben kicked us out and told us to go home.(Well ... not really but he probably should have.)
Can't wait until next year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
It is amazing that the nation Israel(And the whole world for that matter.)didn't come running to Bethlehem after the shepherds spread the word concerning what had been told them about the child(Jesus).(Luke 2:15-18) Israel had been waiting for the Messiah for generations and had the prophecies of the Old Testament. They should have been expecting Jesus but didn't respond even when the shepherds came with the good news.
Actually there were two the Bible tells us about that did respond and had been waiting for many years. This is their story.
Luke 2:25-38 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
"Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."
There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
Jesus is coming again! Will we be like Simeon and Anna who the Bible calls righteous and devout? Will we be like Paul who longed for his appearing?(2 Timothy 4:8) May we not be like the majority of Bethlehem, who when they heard what the shepherds had said were amazed but did nothing about it. Israel had the Old Testament prophecies and we have Paul's words from the New Testament!
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.
Be encouraged! Christ is coming again!
Merry Christmas!

It is only seven months until Creation 2011! That means that it is time to start memorizing verses! With the Christmas break there is plenty of down time giving you a chance to get a head start on the verses. Start on the verses now and it will be easy to get them done in time!
It was this time last year that Creation revealed the 2010 lineup. The new list of bands for 2011 should be out any day now! Can't wait for Creation 2011!

BATTALION 3739 SERGEANT PLAQUE
Battalion 3739 has new hardware on display in the Locker Room! I was talking to the owner of the trophy store when I noticed a large plaque in his store. I asked him about it and he told me that Dave Davies had made it. I had been dreaming about a Sergeant plaque so I went next door(Dave is a salesman at A.B.H. Car Sales.)and asked him about building us one. Dave was excited to build us a plaque and as you can see from the pictures he did an amazing job!(Far better than I had imagined.) Thanks goes out to Dave for this beautiful plaque! Thanks also goes out to Bruce Jepsen for taking the time to mount the plaque in the room for us!(If you look close at the pictures you will notice Bruce's name on the plaque.)

2010 BBB
We had Beans, Battalion Baconator, D.Q. cheeseBurgers, Mug rootBeer and Bonuts!(And yes the Bonuts were shaped like three's, seven's and nine's!) It didn't take very long for the pizza and burgers to disappear and the Bonuts were gone even quicker. We started the night with 72 cans of Mug and by the end of the night there were only 3 left.(We drank nearly 25 liters of Mug!)
After the food we moved upstairs to watch a video collage of pictures taken at Creationfest over the last seven years in hopes that we might convince a few more guys to do the Memory Work.
Next on the agenda was S*A*M and I think my team took two out of three, can't remember for sure. S*A*M is visually very cool and a lot of fun to play.(If you are wondering what it looks like think Tron. Seventy glow sticks and 15 glow in the dark Murderballs flying around the room.)
We ended the night like we always do, with Bulldog! The King started in the middle and after many rounds and a few bumps and bruises we were down to the final two. Dalton and Zach were there again at the end. One round later Zach was the last man standing, earning his second Helmet of the season and the last one of the first half! Congrats Zach!
Thanks to Ryley, Charlie and Devin for all your help in setting up and tearing down! Also thanks to Jeremy for the Bean pot!

BTLN UPDATE
The King has his fourth Helmet of the year! Congrats Chris! The question is can Chris actually be stopped? (He swats me away like I'm a fly!) Zach was there at the end again, but the problem is Chris is just too much for one person to handle.
It was five weeks ago that we last played Murderball at Battalion, needless to say we were long overdue! Jeremy made the teams and most guys thought that the Devin/Captain team was going to get destroyed. But we had Cody on our side! How could we lose? Problem was Cody was taking it easy on the other team this week. He said something about it being to close to Christmas to lay a beating on the other team. Unfortunately for Devin and myself(And the rest of the team.)we got our buts kicked! It was a perfect 6-0 for Jeremy/Ryley/Charlie/Chris/Zach.... waaaait a second.
It was Ryley's turn to share God's Word this week. Ryley guided us through the Christmas story.
Luke 2:8-11 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
We focused on verse eleven were the angel calls Jesus a Saviour, Christ and Lord. Ryley explained that if we understood these names given to Jesus that we would appreciate him more. When we see Jesus as our Saviour(From our sins.)as Christ(The fulfillment of all of the Old Testament Messianic Prophecies.)and as Lord(Supreme power and authority.)it would change how we viewed Christmas.(And life!)
"Christmas is truly a party when we realize who Jesus is!" - Ryley Heppner
Only one week left before the Christmas break, The Three B's! Remember to bring a friend!
