MERRY CHRISTMAS!

 

 

I was thinking about Christmas and a scripture passage came to mind, Philippians 2:5-11. Verse 6 talks about Jesus being God.(Who, being in very nature God,)No matter what anyone tells you Jesus is God!(see also John 1:1,2,14) Verse 7 (but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.) This is amazing, the God that created the universe decided to come to earth as a baby, born in a manger! Verse 8 tells us why he came to earth.(he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!) Jesus came to earth to die for our sins!(see also 1Timothy 1:15) Verse 9 talks about Jesus as he is now.(Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,) He isn't the lowly Jesus that was born in a manger or nailed to a cross. He is again exalted as he should be. We get to verses 10 and 11 and we remember why Jesus has left us (christians) on earth.(that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.) A judgement is coming and Jesus will be the judge. He has left us behind to warn everyone and tell them the good news, that Jesus came to earth as a baby, died on a cross for our sins and that he also rose from the dead. We should celebrate Jesus' birth but we should not forget his death and resurrection. We should also remember that he is now exalted in heaven and is there preparing a place for you and me!
