BTLN UPDATE - POOL PARTY!

What a night! Last night we had around 35 guys at the pool party! I thought this year would be a rebuilding year with smaller numbers but it seems that God had other ideas! There were at least 7 or 8 new guys out last night! Anyways same drill as in the past, trampoline tag, tossing the football around the yard, eating grapes that are growing around the pool, and Menno cooked over the fire! Once we were all in the pool we played the Btln classic Pool Football. Ryley's team owned Jeremy's this year, it was awesome! I think the final score was 5-2 for the good guys.(Ya I was on Ryley's team.) Next up was the Belly Flop comp. and this year the diving board was broken so we borrowed a mini trampoline! Most years we have needed a second round but this year Ben Nicolson took it in the first round! Ben is the first grade 7 to win the Belly Flop Comp. and only the second to win the Helmet. (Zach Gobbett was the first boy to win the Helmet in grade 7.) We finished the night downstairs with a D.Q. cake, some chips and Pepsi. It was another classic Btln Pool Party!

Next week we are back at the gym! Remember, Battalion is like heaven, there is always room for one more! So bring a friend!

POOL PARTY!

I was trying to remember when we started the Btln Pool Party and my earliest memory was from the 2000-01 Btln season. I remember asking Justin Bekker and Ryley Heppner what color they wanted the Btln shirts to be at the pool party in September 2001. (Justin and Ryley were in grade twelve that year.)As you can see from the picture they chose blue. Ryley also wanted a maple leaf, which we put onto the back.(I love Btln history, as if you couldn't tell.)(I have seen pictures of what this years shirts will look like!) Anyways this year will be the sixth annual Belly Flop Competition, can't wait, it is always good for a few laughs.
Don't forget, there will be plenty of food,(Menno, chips, Pepsi and a D.Q. ice cream cake.) so bring a friend!

Btln 3739 Belly Flop Champions
2005/06 - Jordon Walsh
2006/07 - Jordon Walsh
2007/08 - Drew Brown
2008/09 - Andrew Eyre

BTLN UPDATE

First Night is in the books and Chris has started the year with the first Helmet win! Congrats Chris!
We started the night with tetherball and I have to say, it is harder than it looks. Jeremy was beating everyone at tetherball until Owen showed up and took him down. After tetherball we played about ten rounds of murderball in which Jere and my team got schooled pretty bad by Ryley, Owen and Blake's team. We got our revenge when we played Handball, it was close but the last goal was ours.(And you all know what uncle Tim always says, "Ye who scores last scores best!")
Last year our theme was "How great is our God" this year it is "Jesus is Lord". The world will admit that Jesus was a real person and even a good man, but we know that he is also God. Our goal this year is to prove from God's word that Jesus is God. The Gospel of John will be our main text, can't wait for this series of Bible studies!

Next week is the pool party at Abe Martens, see you there!

BTLN TETHERBALL

Battalion 3739 has made a habit of taking obscure games and making them ours. (Such as British Bulldog, Handball, Box Hockey, Arm Wrestling, Ping Pong and Zorbing to name a few.) Enter Tetherball, will it become another Battalion favourite? Only time will tell, but I think we have another winner. Our new tetherball set has arrived and will be ready to go on Wednesday night! Less than a week until First Night!

2010 DIRECTOR'S CUP - THE DRIVE FOR FIVE!

So preparations for the 2010 Director's Cup are under way! We will be traveling to Vancouver on October 16th for the 6th annual Director's Cup. We will also be attending a B.C. Lions game. The Lions will be playing the Toronto Argonauts at old Empire Field. I was at a game this last weekend and Empire is amazing! The Lions are not very good but being able to watch a game at Empire is worth the price of admission. I have also booked the Presidential Suite at the Best Western in Abbotsford. We should all be able to sleep in this suite, it is huge! Anyways, time to start dreaming about the 2010 Director's Cup!

1 Thessalonians 5:23,24 - May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
(Notice that it is God that is going to sanctify you and keep you blameless! He is faithful and he will do it!)

Happy Birthday and God bless you!

CREATION 2010, THE WRAP

It has been a been a week now so I figured it was time to wrap this thing up.(I am almost recovered, not unpacked though.) We started out on Tuesday afternoon after d-Pod finally made his way over to Jepsen's.(Bent dubbed David thorn after he showed up late.) The border was our first stop with the Kelowna Germans paying their 6 dollar fee to get into the U.S., not sure why they need to pay a fee or why it is only six dollars but anyways next up was Colville Wal-Mart for our grocery run. Ten loaves of bread, six flats of water, five packages of Menno, 12 cans of chili, 6 gallons of Hawaiian Punch, 12 bags of chips and six packages of ham later(amongst other things)we headed to Spokane for supper at Red Robin. New discovery, Red Robin in the U.S. has bottomless root beer floats! After a quick stop at the Sports Authority it was time to get back on the road as it was going to be at least two hours longer to Seattle than it had been to the Gorge. It was hard to drive past the Gorge and not stop, especially because it was getting dark but we kept on rolling. We arrived at Enumclaw(the new sight for Creation, it is on the outskirts of Seattle)around midnight and had to set up our tents in the dark after a long day of driving. In the morning we finished setting up and then had some time to relax before we headed over to the Main Stage for the first concert of the week. Wednesday afternoon there was a lot of wrestling and crib. Drew went undefeated the whole week, although he didn't wrestle Dan. David Crowder and Switchfoot started the week, it was awesome to see Switchfoot again after missing them last year. Thursday was Manafest, House of Heroes, Group 1 Crew, The Classic Crime, Hillsong and the Newsboys. We gave a Btln Medallion to Matt, Justin and Robbie from The Classic Crime. Matt was very cool about it, as were Justin and Robbie, one of the best reactions we have ever had. Ryley was pumped for Hillsong, it lived up to expectations(am I right Ryley?) and Newsboys was sweet! There wasn't a rotating drum set, but the two movable stages that swung out over the crowd were amazing. They also had KJ come out and sing the rap in Jesus Freak for the finale, very cool! Friday we saw B.Reith, KJ-52, John Mark McMillan, Thousand Foot Krutch, TobyMac and Audio Adrenaline. We added to the list of honorary Btln members on Friday when we gave Trevor and Steve from Thousand Foot Krutch each a Medallion, they were also very cool about it. B.Reith and KJ were a lot of fun and Krutch was crazy. Toby never disappoints, the stage has always got something going on, there are ten people on the stage! We finished Friday with Audio A. at the late night stage, loved hearing the old time songs.(It was Ryleys favourite concert of the whole week.) Saturday we finished the crib tourney and Zach lost for the second year in a row. The free hug shirt is going to be permanently his if he doesn't start winning. Brian"Head"Welch, Needtobreathe, Tenth Avenue North and Skillet finished the week. After watching Skillet last year I was wondering if they could live up to the expectations this year. Well it wasn't a problem, Skillet once again put on a memorable show, it was a good way to end the festival! Sunday was more driving and another stop at Red Robin and then back to G.F., it was one of the best Creation Festivals I have been to!

Enjoy the set lists!
