LAST NIGHT PICS!

Here are the Last Night pics from the last nine years! I wish we had more pics from the past, but so happy that we have these! What a heritage we have! So proud of so many of these guys!

THE CAPTAIN

One of the traditions of Last Night is the grads finding out what the "Saying" is on the back of our shirts.(It is also written in our room.) The "Saying" or "Motto" was picked by the Alumni and is not told to anyone other than the grads. The grads are allowed to tell one person, that person is their wife when they get married. The grads read the "Saying" and then eat the paper that it is written on. Come watch the grads eat the paper!

BTLN UPDATE - "POP N DOGS PART THREE

Congrats Stephen! First Helmet ever for Stephen! We have had first timers two weeks in a row! Last week it was Tyson and this week it was Stephen!

About 25 of us braved the rain (drizzling) and the cold to eat Menno and play soccer! The slippery field lead to all kinds of slipping and sliding around! It was awesome! These are the kind of nights that the guys will remember for years to come! The game ended in a tie so we went to penalty kicks to decide the game! My team scored one out of five tries, but Ryley's team scored two out of five for the win!

In Bible study we looked at some of the things that we have received in, by and through Christ's death and Resurrection!

Romans 3:24  all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Romans 5:11  we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:1-2  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 12:5  so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

1 Corinthians 1:4  I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 6:11  And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22  Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us,  set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

2 Corinthians 2:14  But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Galatians 3:26  So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,

Galatians 4:7  Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Ephesians 1:3-5  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

Ephesians 2:6-7  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,  in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 3:12  In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:19  And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 2:10  and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

This is only a small sample of the blessings that we receive in, by and through Christ! Read Romans through to the end of Philemon to find more for yourselves! You will be blessed just reading about these blessings!

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats to Tyson! First Helmet ever for Tyson! Luke B. was there at the end with Tyson, but it was Tyson walking (running) the tightrope that pulled off the big win! So awesome to see how excited Tyson was to win for the first time!

This week we played Soccer! It was chaotic! We used half of the field with about 20 guys to a team! David was switching back and forth from one team to the other! My team was getting kicked around. I think the score had to be around 7-2! It was close early but that didn't last long.

Quote of the week comes from Nathan M. (You need to know that Nathan is from England.) "That was the worst Soccer game I have ever played! But it was so much fun!"

We polished off another 80 Menno dogs and 21 Liters of Gatorade!

This week Ryley lead the Bible study. We looked at the Resurrection.

Ryley told us that it cannot be denied that Jesus lived, died on a cross and was buried in a tomb. We must decide for ourselves what happened to Jesus after he was buried.

Matthew 27:62-66  The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
“Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

Did Jesus' disciples steal Jesus' body while Roman soldiers were guarding the tomb? This would have been impossible considering the soldiers own lives were in danger if the body went missing!

Matthew 28:1-7  After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

1 Corinthians 15:3-8  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

500 people all saw Jesus at the same time! How many witnesses does it take to prove an event happened? Like Ryley said, If Jesus wasn't resurrected then how come so many of these witnesses were willing to die terrible deaths for Jesus name?

The only logical explanation for the empty tomb is that Jesus was resurrected and is alive! He is risen!

Take the time to read 1 Corinthians 15:1-58.

BTLN UPDATE - "POP N DOGS" & BTLN FOOTBALL

Congrats David! Third Helmet of the year for David! Nate and David were both stopped on the last round, but David had about a foot more forward progress! It was very close! I just love Bulldog on the grass! It's the way it is supposed to be played!

It was soooo good to be outside playing football! (It was a long winter!) My team jumped out to an early 14-0 lead. I think it was Skyler and Mike scoring touchdowns. Jason and Devin's team scored next. Pretty sure David and Noah both scored, making the score 14-14. With Luke B. at the helm of my team, we scored the final major of the game, winning 21-14!

I almost forgot to mention that we consumed 72 Menno dogs and 21 liters of Gatorade!

I was talking to Jeremy this week and he asked why I don't bring lights to Btln Football. Never thought about I guess. Anyways, having lights for the Bible study and for Bulldog was amazing! It is more to bring to the field, but it was worth it!

This week in Bible study we looked at some of the events that took place at the Lord's Supper.

Matthew 26:31-35  Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: “‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.” Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.” “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.

You have to admire Peter's enthusiasm, but instead of being confident in his own abilities he should have asked Jesus for help to conquer his fear.

John 21:15-17  When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

After the resurrection, Jesus takes the time to reassure Peter. Jesus lets Peter know that even though he (Peter) had denied him (Jesus) that he (Jesus) wanted Peter to continue to take care of the Church! In fact, Peter is given the role of leader of the early church! God didn't give up on Peter and he won't give up on us! Even though we will make mistakes! We need to learn to trust and depend on God more each day!

2 Timothy 2:13  If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
