BTLN 3739 SERGEANT JERSEYS

Last year we started the "One forward, One back" Sergeant jersey program. Drew and Devin were the first to receive their jerseys followed this year by Sam and Jason. Next year the jerseys will go to Sergeant 11(yet to be determined) and Ben! Even though this program is only in its second year it is one of my Btln favourites.

WINSTON 2006/07?

In 2006 we added the Helmet to Battalion 3739. The winner of Bulldog each week would win the Helmet. A year later we introduced Winston as the trophy for the overall champion. It was simple, the one with the most wins at the end of the year would win Winston. As I was thinking back I wondered, Who would have won Winston in the 2006/07 season? I was keeping track, but at the end of the year I forgot to write down who the winners were. Then I remembered that Bent had kept track on the blog, he had missed a few but between the Archives and the blog I was able to come up with the answer. Devin Chursinoff would have won Winston in 06/07 with his four wins. Devin may not have won if Winston had been around cause the guys might have picked on him, but all things being equal, Devin is/was the champ!
Lastly, who was the first ever winner of the Helmet? Zach Gobbett, he was in grade seven at the time!

2006/07 SEASON REVIEW
DEVIN CHURSINOFF - 4 HELMETS, BOXING CHAMPION
JORDON WALSH - 3 HELMETS, BELLY FLOP & GOLF CHAMPION
CHARLIE LANGIS - 3 HELMETS

BTLN UPDATE

Third week of the year is in the books! Can't believe how fast the year moves. First of all congrats to Chris on his first Helmet win of the year! It looked like Chris finally figured out that he is the biggest guy out there. Nobody is going to stop Chris by themselves, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with.
We played handball for the first time this year. The game was very close, the teams were evenly matched. I don't think that we ever keep score anymore but it always comes down to the last goal anyways.(Like Uncle Tim always says, "He who scores last scores best!")
Our theme this year is "How great is our God!" and this week Jeremy talked about Noah and the flood. God is the great judge of the world and if he wants to flood his world because his standard is not being met, then is justified in doing so. However he is also loving and always provides a way out. Noah was preaching for 120 years, so the people had a lifetime to change there lives. The Ark also had enough room for anyone that wanted join Noah and his family.
After Battalion we adjourned to the A&W for some food. It was an impromptu Non-Com meeting. Sammy, Sam, Parker, Owen, Ryan, D-pod and myself did a little brainstorming and a lot of talking. Good times all around.

Next week we are back at the gym, remember bring a friend. There is always room for one more!

2009 CHAMPIONS!

We are Director's Cup Champions again!(Or is it we are still Champions?) Winning never gets old! What a good trip! We left G.F. at eight on Saturday morning to go on our annual trip to the coast to play and watch some football. Made our first stop at the A&W in Osoyoos for some Bacon N' Eggers (and Sirloin Burgers) and then back on the road. While on the road, Dan (Btln 3739 General Manager) was trying to make a late addition to our lineup. After much negotiating a deal was reached and we were able to sign Joe Kraftchick and add him to our team.(In keeping with club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.) Langley was bringing nineteen guys so we needed to bring some of our big guns. Special thanks to Dan, Charlie and Joe for helping out! We played the Cup on a field close to Science world, what a view, it is a lot of fun to play football with the Vancouver skyline in the background. The game was a lot closer than it was four years ago it ended 28-14. Dan, Charlie and Joe all had a touchdown catch to lead us to victory. Joe also had a kickoff return for a touchdown! At first we had trouble stopping the coast team, but we changed our defensive scheme and shut them down in the second half. After sipping Canada Dry from the cup we headed over to B.C. Place to watch the Lions beat up on the Argos. Next it was time to celebrate our win at Boston Pizza(I never get tired of B.P.)and then back to Abbotsford for the night. Sunday we met Joe and Ryley for lunch at Red Robin's, spent a little time at the mall and then headed for home.

DIRECTOR'S CUP 2009

Second post tonight, it's the way Btln has been going this year, fast and furious! Anyways this weekend is the Director's Cup/Lions game! Three years ago Btln 3739 beat up on the coast team and they haven't played us since. This year that is going to change! Langley E-Free is bringing nineteen boys this year and will be ready to play! Do we have what it takes to bring the trophy back to G.F.? Only time will tell. A win this year would bookend the two years that we didn't play and make them feel more like wins. The lineup has changed from year to year but we have always had a good group of guys!

2009 Director's Cup Btln 3739 lineup
Dan Trithardt
Charlie Langis
Sammy Jepsen
Jake Metz
Chris Henderson
Kaleb Horkoff
Dan Dimock
Zane Lawson
Josh Ridsdale
Dalton Shore
Lance Martens

2009 POOL PARTY!

Second night of the year and second Helmet for Sam S.! Sam is a force to be reckoned with! The Belly flop came down to Sam and Owen(Interesting that it is friends again, last year it was Kevin H. and Andrew E.)and both guys did not hold back. There was not much to choose between them, but in the end Sam had a little more air time and ended up with the win. Earlier in the night we had played water football and unlike last year my team won! Jeremy was still a force, but in the end it wasn't enough, we had Charlie dominating in the shallow end. After the pool we adjourned to the basement for some snacks and before we knew it another good night at Btln 3739 was over!

Next week we are back at the church! Bring a friend!

Remember Battalion is like Heaven, there is always room for one more!

2009/10 BTLN SHIRT!

We have some good news and some bad news. First the good news, this years shirts are done and they look fabulous! Second the bad news, this is the last year that Tyler will make our shirts. Lastly some good news, we have bought the equipment from Tyler and will be able to make our own shirts next year! The best part is that we will still have Tyler doing the artwork, so the quality should stay the same. These are very exciting days for Btln 3739!

Make sure to bring your money ($35) on Wednesday so that you can take a shirt home.

Remember Wednesday night is the pool party!

BTLN UPDATE

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been experiancing computer trouble again. Anyways there is a ton of things that need updating. First off Parker Steadman was the answer to the "Who am I", nice job Jason! Next up, First Night, I'm going to say that there were around thirty of us, we played a seven game series of murderball, my team losing 3-4. We started our Bible study series, "How great is our God!" Creation was the topic, how much do you get done in one week? God created everything in one week! The theme verse for our Bible study series is Psalm 104:1.

Psalm 104:1 - Praise the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

First Helmet of the year went to Sam S., it was good to play some B-dog again! After the night was over the older guys loaded into the Btln Bus and headed over to Castlegar for Boston Pizza! Six large pizza's and several pitchers of Pepsi later we were on our way home, and the end of another good night at Battalion 3739.

Other things to take note of,
1)Pool party this week!
2)Shirts will be ready this week!
3)Football trip is next weekend, we need to know asap who needs a ticket!
